Sounds like Sheffield United are the most likely to sign Archer outright. Luton want to loan him.

Boro are selling Akpom to Ajax for over £10mil....

Wonder if Carrick wants Archer back?....

I saw Middlesbrough and Leeds linked yesterday. Sheffield Utd were the Prem team linked when this first came out.

Have seen Luton linked with Archer today as well.

I would have thought Premier League makes more sense, even with a newly promoted side, especially if we're including a buy back clause.

Apparently he doesn't want to join a Championship team, which you can understand. He's done a shift there and proven himself imo.

Sad to see him go, but due to recent injuries looks like we need to get some money in for replacements.

I'm convinced they're lining up a centre forward as back up to Watkins. It was a big gamble selling Ings in January with no real back up. Selling Archer now and not getting someone else in would be insane.

We simply have to buy a striker to challenge Watkins. If Watkins got injured we'd be playing Duran or Davis which is farcical.

few rumblings we are about to sell Archer on a permanent move. Be fuming if true

If we’ve got someone really good to come to in and it’s structured with a buy back like Ramsey then can’t see the issue really.

Only if it is to a PL side though.

A PL team that are about to go down the drain as of next week? Fine if you're a keeper or defender, you'll get loads of practice. Joining some half arsed relation clubs like Luton, Sheff Utd or Wolves, where you'll get three opportunities to score all season seems a waste of talent to me. He basically doesn't need to be there.

Tbf if he'd have played for Wolves on Monday he'd have scored a hattrick

I'll be quite sad to see Archer leave. Not even given a chance

Depends how you view Diaby and Zaniolo I guess. Both have played false 9 style positions, and Diaby has been pretty much played up front by Emery in pre season and now. I think we'll sign another forward, but not an out and out striker. Ferran Torres type I'd guess.

We need another striker. As Paulie said on the Newcastle thread, Isak is miles better than Watkins. I'd argue Wilson is as well, and he's going to be used as a sub mainly. We've been light in that department for the last 5 years, time to do something about it.

yeah i keep hoping for a big Nr 9 to arrive (like Lukaku) but i suppose the modern game has moved on ?? I just don't see Diaby as a 9 and i've already confessed i know nothing about Zaniolo

Looks like Digne off and that lad Acuna possibly his replacement. Not bad if we can get that done. It looks to be a really busy end of month for us.

Davis wasn't given a squad number so I doubt he is in the squad plans...

This is in one of the articles about Acuña

"In order to lower the fee, it’s said Monchi could offer Diego Carlos on loan as part of the deal for Acuña. The report adds the Brazilian, who joined Aston Villa from Sevilla in 2022, is not included in Emery’s plans."

Which would be insane with Mings being injured, surely bollocks unless we're in for another CB. Then it's just another person to add to the 'get up to speed' list.

I've never been a big fan of Digne so I won't be particularly concerned about him leaving (apart form the need to get another player up to Emery's ways) but I have never doubted his effort, I just don't think he is good enough going forward, like Cash.

The report they're referencing was in Marca, which I think is somewhat reputable, but even still, as you say, it makes no sense.
