Digne's fine, but he's no spring chicken and when Moreno returns he won't be first choice. He's also on a big wedge.

A move would be in everyone's interests. Thanks for your service, shake hands, and move on.

Then hopefully sign a younger version of Moreno, whom I really rate.

Yes, and if we can all see it he can surely see it too, and yet he's still being a professional and giving it all while he is still here. Which I respect. Is all I was saying.

Yeah, I meant a lot younger than Moreno. Someone to play understudy. Digne isn't going to want that at this late stage in his career.

Digne is probably the scapegoat for people still sulking after Saturday.
He was one of the few that did ok.
And looked like he actually gave a shit.

Sounds like they're going the opposite way. So will Acuña be happy to be playing understudy? Or is he good enough to provide genuine competition to Moreno?

I think Digne deserves some credit. He's been linked with a few places this summer and probably knows his time is limited at Villa, but he's stayed, and he's trained, and he's committed to the club while he's still here.

We pay him an obscene amount of money a week, more than almost anyone at the club, the least I'd expect from him is some professionalism.

That's not really how it works though, is it. There's loads of players at loads of clubs who get paid loads of money and when they decide they want out, or are told they're surplus to requirement, they act like petulant children. Digne could have demanded to be let go as soon as the window opened, its not his problem that Moreno is out, he could have sat back on his 120k a week and demanded to be let go, refuse to train, play etc. etc.

Yeah, it's a pretty low bar, but sometimes the bar is just that low.

Oh thank you, Mr. Digne, sir, for being such a tremendously generous fellow and gracing us with your presence. We are truly honoured.

Yeah, because that's exactly what I'm asking for.

I do find it funny that you get more stick on this forum for suggesting a player has earned a bit of respect for how he's behaved, than you do for suggesting the only reason a woman has a job is because she's attractive. But we did say the bar is very low.

I wouldn’t worry about it. In his limited number of posts so far, from what I’ve seen all he’s capable of is twatty remarks.

Maybe women are deserving of respect too? It's a crazy idea, but there's something in it, I reckon.

Genuinely can't tell if this is an attempt at a joke or you've just misread what I've said, which is funny in itself given how the rest of that conversation went.

But we're apparently after Acuna who is older than both Moreno and Digne.

For as long as I've been a Villa fan, someone has always been the scapegoat. Even the season we won the league there were plenty who picked fault with Cowan's. Before him it was McNaught & before that, Mortimer.

Digne is OK & most likely he's being edged out because of his salary & the fact he doesn't fit the profile that Emery wants.

Digne is a good player in the right team. Which, was Everton. Even after taking over from a club legend like Leighton Baines.

few rumblings we are about to sell Archer on a permanent move. Be fuming if true

isn't this the new model? develop younger players and flog them if they're not in the team?

Digne is fine, with him and a fit Moreno we've probably one of the clubs with the best 2 choices at LB.

If Emery reckons he can get better value elsewhere then fair enough, but this other dude will be after a big last contract.

This has been on the go for a week or more now. I think of Zaniolo comes in and can play as a striker/attacking mid, and Diaby is similar, plus Watkins, then we're probably set for that position.

Probably on less than Digne, who along with Phil, are on the highest weekly salaries.
