Acuna is ace, he was awesome in the World Cup I thought.

He's a good player but i've only read about him being a left back, i.e. not used in other positions so it has to mean Digne is off.

I’d much rather have Acuna than Digne.

Yes, me too. What i was saying really is that i don't see the point in signing another left back unless Digne is off, considering we need players in other areas, but as someone pointed out we could use Moreno further up.

We really could do with signing a couple of absolute bastards, been saying it for years now. Acuna would be a good start

The poster that has connections (Vinnie?) said a few pages back that Acuna would mean Digne leaving. He's been linked with Saudi clubs since the window opened, so it may well be one in one out.

Amazing how times change.

Few years back you were risking monthly bans on here if you dared suggest singing players even approaching 30.

That first season back up we were desperate for some experienced know how in key areas but it was frequently dismissed for up and coming hungry young players.

Acuna's a good player for sure but signing a guy older than Moreno, that's a bit odd to me.

Much rather ask about Tierney who Real Sociedad want on loan and I don't think he even made the Arsenal bench for Forest match.

We haven’t bought too many older heads and Ashley Young showed us how last year the right player can make a huge difference. When Cash got injured and it meant Young playing more regularly he was outstanding.

He’s left and with Mings now out this could be a fantastic bit of business.

Percy said as much today as well,

Unai Emery is also keen to bring in Acuna, the Argentina international, as a replacement for Lucas Digne who has been the subject of interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Acuna has been with Sevilla for nearly three years and Villa are exploring a deal to bring him to the Premier League.

Digne is understood to be the latest player to be offered a move to the ambitious Saudi Pro League, with Riyadh giants Al-Hilal believed to be one of several options.

Digne is the epitome of average, given what we paid for him.  Moreno is so much better in every area.  I hope he goes and we bring in Acuna.

I think Digne deserves some credit. He's been linked with a few places this summer and probably knows his time is limited at Villa, but he's stayed, and he's trained, and he's committed to the club while he's still here.

If Digne is to leave and a Saudi club would give us his FFP book value & we could replace with a player Unai wants at similar value but lower salary it’s a win/win.

The fact Digne was the first player to be upgraded in Jan shows Emery wasn’t sold on him

And why would he be?

He is slower than concrete...

If the price is right I'd go for experience now, and look at younger "exciting" players in January or next summer. In defence anyway.

Ramos would be free.

Just saying.

I suggest he’d want wages and a signing on fee, just saying.

We pay him an obscene amount of money a week, more than almost anyone at the club, the least I'd expect from him is some professionalism.

That's not really how it works though, is it. There's loads of players at loads of clubs who get paid loads of money and when they decide they want out, or are told they're surplus to requirement, they act like petulant children. Digne could have demanded to be let go as soon as the window opened, its not his problem that Moreno is out, he could have sat back on his 120k a week and demanded to be let go, refuse to train, play etc. etc.

Yeah, it's a pretty low bar, but sometimes the bar is just that low.

It's thought that Digne isn't prepared to play a small role once Moreno is fit again. So a move is in everybody's best interests.
