I think talk of another lost opportunity with this transfer window are misplaced. I think we’d probably done enough, with maybe a Zanoli making it excellent. How do you legislate for two first teamers being out for the season in the first few days of the season? Its bound to create degrees of panic, where there was probably an aura of calmness last week. If the Harrison rumours are true, if feels a bit panicky.
We do need a couple in now, the Italian lad would be a start and then a versatile defender.
I do agree with Smirker and BV here, we are still going to have a good season and there is no need to panic after Saturday.

The injuries, particularly to Mings, was more crushing than the defeat itself.

100% this - part of the result came about because of the injury - was a basketball game before that and we were well in it - the capitulation afterwards was v worrying.

For me from the moment he walked into the club he has been the leader of the defensive unit, the organiser, the one who challenges for every ball…it took him a long time to adapt and to be fair before Unai came in he was high on the list of players who needed upgrading….last season once the idiot had been booted to touch Mings became one of the best defenders in the league.

I can’t see how we can play the high line without the organiser, don’t think that will be an issue because we have a coach who will adapt to the situation…my concern is we have Torres who I think we all expected to take a few games to settle, Carlos who is an unknown in terms of durability & Konsa who has always been a worry to me because he is a follower not a leader & he also thinks he’s a footballer which he isn’t and we need him to be a proper defender.

I threw out Laporte initially, I can see the logic in Maguire if we are going to defend the edge of the box rather than halfway line, don’t see that happening though.

I think a lot rests on what faith they have in Carlos body holding up…we have def managed him back over 6 months, is he up to being thrown in hook line and sinker?

Hope we do get another reliable option in…would hate to get to October and find Hause getting minutes again.

And there's another 2 weeks before 'Jim White Day'.

Fabrizio say Zaniolo is “very close”.

His wording always leaves him an out if it falls apart.

Bloody hell! Does he not read London Villans posts?

Deal was done last week.

Several sources reporting similar news on Zaniolo. One said he's over here at Aston Villa! Sounds more likely now....

If you follow Instagram, Zaniolo travelled to Brum today.

He also says that we have hijacked Jack Harrison from on his way to Everton or am I looking at a fake account?

We need at least 3 more after Zaniolo for me. Centre half, right back, winger.

Centre half and RB could/should be the same person imo as it fits with emery’s plan and is needed anyway.

I trust London Villan more than Fabrizio. He's already a Villa player as far as I'm concerned.

no he got burned with that one. Whatever he heard wasn't correct and he went with it. Ornstein did say we had enquired. Romano basically said he'd chosen us. This one is close though, but maybe a few % short of starting its own thread. And I'm not starting anything given the overall 'mare I've had to start the season.

^it's possible what Romano said was correct, everything was seemingly happening in a mad panic yesterday, and by the time the tweeted about it things had changed again. He still gets it right way more than he gets it wrong anyway.

Oh absolutely and given all the deals he's connected to his hit rate is very high.
