I think it was bullshit. Romano said earlier that Emery has spoken to Harrison personally and that it was agreed.

Thank god anyway!

This is all very weird. He’s allegedly out for 3-4 weeks and we’re apparently looking for a replacement for Buendia, unless the medical suggested he’d be out for a lot longer then we must want someone pretty urgently.

I thought it sounded odd when the story broke. It didn't feel like an Emery kind of signing.

I hope we are not after Harrison.

He is the definition of average.

Injured or otherwise...

Harrison would be a very 2019/20 signing. A bit like Samatta after Wesley got injured.

We spent thirty odd million on Diego Carlos and Pau Torres, if we're buying Harry Maguire, it would render those transfers a bit redundant, no?

I'm going to say it & no doubt I'll be shot down for it. But Maguire, for all his faults, ticks many of the boxes to replace what Ming's brought to the side. Leadership, strength, experience & aerial presence.

The main concern would be his ability to work with a high line. But replacing Ming's won't be easy, cheap or without risk. I think Maguire, in the time available, is as close as we're likely to get.

Perhaps it’s fate, his head looks like the North Stand.

If Tyrone is out for an extended period as looks very likely Maguire would be a good replacement but I would only take him as a loan.

I'm not trying undermine the importance of Mings to our team but it's a bit ridiculous to think in a squad of 15 or 16 players there's nobody who can step up and take charge in his absence. I hope Moreno or J Ramsey have a bit of something about them when they get back or we could be in for a very long season.

I don't like the thought of maguire in a Villa shirt, but he could just be the answer short term.
