Now we need to look at potential players in these 3 key areas
Goal Keeper
Right Back
Striker.

I also feel we could bring in another winger and midfielder but don't think more than a maximum of 5 signings in next 5 weeks will be made

seems excessive and i think Emre likes a smaller squad , definitely a RB and a keeper

Agreed, i think footy is getting carried away. I also think Watkins can be hit and miss, but i think talk about a marquee forward signing is misplaced, if we buy another forward type player, it will becto support/compliment Ollie.

Not disagreeing, but even if we don't sign any of them I'm happy to trust Unai's judgement on what type of squad he needs.  If he wants one or more players in those positions I think he'll be backed if need be.

Doesn’t matter how many players we sign people will always want more
An upgrade here back up there

Then there is the constant default position of a right back, we could sign a prime Carlos Alberto and people will still be calling for an upgrade
There’s plenty of other positions on the pitch ie goalkeeper, striker to sort before I’m gonna start worrying about the right back as Cash is perfectly capable

We’re not going to get everything we want, that’s football
We’ve signed 3 decent players we’ll probably sign a few more because of the extra games next season

But We’ve already got the best squad we’ve had in 20 years, a Genius at the helm, ambitious owners gunning for glory, and a redevelopment plan of the ground in place

Hold onto your seats

I dont think an upgrade on Cash is needed just yet, just another right back to compete with him. Emery seems to like making subs so it makes sense really.

Yes, competition in places is necessary.
Emery hasn't been a big fan of Cash or Digne as full backs was all the claims.
And there's been talk of looking for a right back, with numerous itk journalists, including John Percy, expressing reservations about him and Digne.
Moreno is working as a player for Emery it was an outstanding signing.
It will be interesting to observe what occurs for a right back.
Well the presemt talk is Villa are after a right back on the rumour front so that's facts.

Agreed, and Cash does seem to pick up his fair share of injuries. Whether that’s down to bad luck or a consequence of his all action approach I don’t know but we need cover.

Yep.  In my mind I expect something like:
- A Moreno-type signing for right back ... you know, £10-15m, realistically going to be rotated a fair bit with Cash.  Don't need anything fancy IMO, just a fresh pair of legs, maybe offering something a bit different, similar sort of quality to Cash.
- A Doku or Johnson type signing.  I see us having 2 main forwards - Ollie and Cam Archer - then maybe one or two players who are primarily wingers, but would work as strikers too if needed.  More so that if one of Ollie & Cam get injured, the responsibility isn't completely on the other.
- 2nd choice keeper.  Imagine this will be an older head who's happy to play a dozen or so games a season.  A Pepe Reina (in the season we stayed up) type signing maybe, you know ... maybe a good player who, like Ashley Young, can't play every single game; offers a bit of experience and a big personality in the dressing room.  Expecting cheap/free for that one.

That to me would be an amazing summer.

Heaton would be a good backup but probably unlikely if Henderson goes to forest

And there are 40 days for two or three more.

Tom Collomosse ITK Midlands reporter said
"Villa also want a forward to be both partner and alternative to Ollie Watkins"
He also said after signing Pau Torres "This is unlikely to be the end of Villa’s activity, with the club targeting a wide forward as well as another midfielder and a striker"

I can get carried away when all the links to our statement signing have seen our targets set high for a striker position though be it Ferran Torres, Goncalves, Vlahovic or .. Johnson! I wouldn't be surprised if we made a deal late on in the window for one of these.

A month ago it was reported by reputable journalists Ben Fisher and Jacob steinberg "Villa are determined to strengthen, with Emery keen to add a full-back, a winger and a striker"
Steinberg reported Monchi coming to Villa.

Regards Right Back
Only a couple of days ago it was reported again by the Guardian we "after striker and Right back cover"
Villa are determined to strengthen further as they prepare to play in Europe for the first time since 2010. They allowed Marvelous Nakamba to join promoted Luton on Thursday, while Keinan Davis and Kortney Hause are also free to leave.

Does anyone know where we stand FFP wise?

Apart from Ings (£15m?) and Marv (£4m?) leaving I don’t think we have had any money come in so far this summer?

My research has led me to believe that there could be a move for RB Leipzig defender who is right sided defender. Hes a rightback , but also plays at right centre back and can play dm. A cultured Callum Chambers techies superior.

Shipping out Chambers makes sense then because it's an upgrade for him and gives Matty Cash upgrade competition.
He's been on our radar him for a while now, and he fits the bill at 23 years of age and comes with Champions League experience:

Think we're done now until after start of season.

Only issue is if Digne picks up an injury which is always likely to happen given his frequent ones since signing.

Not sure who we'd play at LB if that happens. O.k putting CBs there but that tactic won't work for every game e.g. Everton at home when we need to be far more on the front foot than say Newcastle away.
