I don't think the Saudi's want to compete with the Premier League, they're looking to be the best league in that region & to get fans there to watch the games in person or on TV. Nobody in Europe or South America will watch it.

They might however create & finance a Super League. It's worked with golf & they now have a seat at that table. The financial issues with clubs in Spain & Italy is an ideal opportunity for them to offer those clubs a way out of debt.

They're looking forward 20 years + when the oil money runs out.

Just to take this off topic for a moment...

Fabrizio Romano

Moussa Diaby to Aston Villa, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Bayer Leverkusen after €55m plus add-ons bid sent this week. 🚨🟣🟣#AVFC

Deal in place, player only wanted Villa— understand medical tests have been scheduled at beginning of next week.

Done, sealed. ✔️

if true this is good news, I follow Romano and he's usually pretty reliable but I missed this from his feed so I'm dubious about its veracity.

Where did you see this Drummond? twitter? genuine account?

As Drummond posted yesterday, it's fake account.

Bugger, he's left the post up though I see.

I still expect to see Neves pop up at Newcastle next season.

Tammy Abraham is not good enough.

Even in the season we went up and he scored a stack that season, he still missed a high number of real sitters.

He's a second or third tier striker at best.

The night he got 5 vs Forest, he missed the 4 easiest chances. Should have walked away with 8-9 on his own that night. Went missing a lot in games for me. Decent backup/ competition for Watkins but certainly not a improvement

Second or third tier striker? Really?

Come on though, when does ANY striker score 8 or 9 in a game?

Unless your name’s Joe Payne.

As prolific as Andy Cole was, he still used to miss plenty of chances. All strikers do.

But he still scored 5.

They could do, but I imagine UEFA, the Premier League and the respective international FAs would play hardball in a way that the golfing authorities didn't.  I don't know what the legal implications would have been, but if the golfing authorities had said no majors and no Ryder Cup if you join LIV then it might have been a bit different.

I imagine any clubs wanting to join a Saudi breakaway competition would be told no European competition, no Premier League and the players will no longer be considered for international selection.

No. I fell for a spoof. FFS

Was it that clown with about 75 followers?

What’s the point of accounts like that?

To piss people off.

Not having a go at Drummond but the post should be edited now as I've just fallen for it based on seeing it on here. 😡

Tammy is probably as close to Watkins as you can get. They'd struggle to play together though.

Anyhow, we need to get on with signings - it is all about integrating them quickly.

We've signed two. Why are you acting like an impatient kid on Twitter?

Clamps - stop being silly.

For once I agree that is a ridiculous comment.
