watching the team run around yesterday confirmed my opinion on the new shirt

I don’t know what it is but It just doesn’t look right, there’s something wrong going on there

I don’t normally get exercised about the shirt they all look pretty similar to me, but this one is a bit rubbish
Worst one yet I reckon, the sponsor doesn’t help absolutely crap

I'd hope that it sells so poorly that the club marketing bods never go this route again. The badge, the shade,  the piping, the WAV tribute nonsense for a song that isn't even ours and that cack oversized sponsor. It has no redeeming features at all.

But if it's a Fanatics deal, the club have prob already got their money and aren't really fussed.

Coutinho would be perfect in place of Buendia if  he could stay fit.

I keep Buendia this year. I’d like to see Emery really work on Buendia to see if/how much he can improve him before we get rid.

If there’s no improvement then priority 1 next summer.

I don't think that will happen. A lot of players have improved under Emery, EB has not moved. Another season the way we are progressing will show more of his short-comings. We need an upgrade.

Seriously, does every thread have to turn into a political or social debate. Mods?

We're not really here to tell people what they are and aren't allowed to talk about.

The thing about players like Buendia and Bailey is that they've managed to do a job under Emery. I don't know what specific task he gives them of a match day, but we finished the season well, so I'll assume everyone was doing what was asked of them.

We had a squad that should have been performing better when he took over, and he got them to perform to that level, and above.

If you believe the rumours then we are looking to sign 2 new attacking/midfield players. So it's not a great leap to assume he does want us to play differently to how we have been.

That said, I'd still be keeping Buendia and Bailey because the absolute last thing we want is a squad that can't change or adapt to any situation/opponent.

I personally would say the same for Coutinho, but he obviously wasn't as involved as the others last season and if an appropriate offer was to materialise then we probably wouldn't miss him that much.

Need more classics like this (on claret & blue vinyl).

Here’s the track list, maybe time for a reissue?

I’ve got the single. I’ve also got “ Hey Aston Villa” and “ We’re Going Up”. Classics.

I remember when we were kids, I reckon this'd be 1980, maybe a bit later, my best mate had an album compilation of Villa songs, which had "Hey Aston Villa" on it. All I remember is i am sure it was on Cherry Red records.

Just googled and I can see a late 90s compilation, but as i said, this was about 20 years earlier.

I hope we go into the season with Watkins, Buendia, 2 new (Diaby and Johnson?), Archer and one from Coutinho, Bailey and Traore, which will depend on a few factors including likely fitness, interest from a buying club / price and general attitude of the player. I’d loan Duran out so that would be 6 players for 2/3 positions on the pitch depending on tactics and hopefully a lot of games.

Apparently we’ve made an approach for Lukaku.

According to whom? He’s one of those players who is tremendous when he’s 100% fit, but loses a massive amount if he’s anywhere below that.

Quite rightly too but as individuals we could all perhaps show some discretion.

Doesn’t seem an obvious fit for us. Where have you seen it, Jon?

I recall reading something last season that Inter had hired an expert in Biomechanics (?) to look at him and had concluded that his running style had changed and that had led to him being prone to injury and less effective when fit. He’d be on serious wages, I’d stay well clear.
