The pedantry was meant to have stopped when Legion intervened!

Sorry. I'm always miles behind the conversation.

I didn't mean you 🙂

See what I mean? *muffled sob*

Sorry. I'm always miles behind the conversation.

BTW, I've been hearing rumours we are interested in signing Mark Draper.

No transfer spree then, a sure sign we're going to have to cut our cloth accordingly. :(

We can expect to see Neil Taylor back soon, if so.

AshtonVilla, I’m sure your many years working in education have helped you form such an excellent opinion.

Spent pretty much my whole adult life hanging around universities, have taught both undergrad and post grad, and done PhD supervising. Until about six months ago I had had my offices based in various universities for more than twenty years. I still regularly give guest lectures all over the world.

He’s already played for them so I think he’s exempt from that.

I think you're right about pro ate education. I mean, look at the calibre of Boris Johnson as a prime example.

Do you lecture only to students from privately educated backgrounds or are you happy to be paid to lecture people who've managed to get through the shit state system too?

Those scummy kids that chose to uptake the service of state education have been taught by a bunch of rabid far left activists remember. Surely unteachable in HE.

Ashtonvilla, did you have your sense of empathy removed via the NHS or did you go private?

i am autistic, and have a low level of empathy compared to most.

The last couple of times I tried to use the NHS I gave up and went private. But no I do not have permanent private health care, I use it ad hoc. In principle I fully support universal healthcare, but in practice the NHS is a masterclass in how not to deliver value. Needs root and branch reform.

I went to a shit comprehensive myself, most of the teachers were worse than useless. Spent most of the time in library avoiding getting my head kicked in and teaching myself.

I have never been paid for teaching, have always done so voluntarily or in exchange for using lab facilities and the library for literature searching. I see it as way of encouraging interest in my particular discipline.

I am currently funding a PhD and a masters in South Africa for people that would otherwise have not been able to study one.

Yep and that’s rubbish - it doesn’t mean all teachers are shit though.

As you are autistic it make sense then that yours perspectives on matters differ from most of others on here.

I'll ask my autistic nephew what he thinks of, the frankly great, teachers he has. I'm sure it'll be different.

I don't think they are, it's very patchy. My sister teaches at a primary school, she takes it very seriously. Some of her colleagues less so.

Yeah because all autistic people are the same. Think about how that sounds applied to any other group.
