Duran and Gnonto are not at the same developmental level. Evidenced by the fact that one is being chased by several Premier League teams and the other is most likely being loaned out to a lower level to earn experience.

I'm not sure about the Duran comparison either really. Gnonto has had a full season over here now and some playing time in Italy (I think).

He's never played in Italy, he left there when he was 16.

To repeat he's not ready to join a club that is aiming to challenge the top 6 and to win trophies as a regular starter, do you think I'm wrong? If not you're just arguing semantics for the sake of it. I made the comparison because I personally think Duran will be the better player of the 2 but even still I don't think he's someone we'll be relying on next season.

The difference in where they are is where your argument about 'struggling teams' gets completely flipped. Gnonto got lots of starts because Leeds are shit, had no one to keep him out of the their team and thought they were just making up the numbers for a bottom half finish to the season. That's why saying 'just imagine what he could do in a better team' is such a flawed argument, just getting into the team would be a massive challenge and if he put in the sort of stinking performances that he did during Leeds shitty run April he'd not be keeping his place.

Jesus Christ Paul, calm down, your posts sound so angry.

It’s a disagreement about a footballer, not the Good Friday Agreement.

The Duran comparison is a bit ridiculous but anyway. In time honoured fashion, as Gnoto played very well at Villa Park last season he is going to be a target. Barnes is a fantastic player but I think we will want to stay out of a bidding war for him. If he wants to stay in the midlands, and if we are genuinely keen, then we should make it happen. Bailey and Buendia both are good players but really have never stepped up consistently.

I'm perfectly calm, I just find it odd that people think comparing 2 teenagers who joined the premier league a few months apart and are both full internationals is a weird comparison, or that the one of them who was a big part of a team that's just been relegated would be a good use of £20m this summer.

It just feels like a good performance against us and some ridiculous hype in the press have made people think Gnonto is something other than a kid who's still finding his feet.

It's just a difference of opinion. That's it.

I agree, Barnes at the right price would be fantastic. It will be interesting who they bring in attack wise and how much we are prepared to spend on it.

I still like Gnonto, I saw him a fair few times, not just against us and he looked very good and very direct which I like. I’d still want Barnes too, if that isn’t too greedy.

Gnonto is more than just a half season wonder. He's a full Italy international.

Crikey it really is the dog days of summer when this turns into an argument. Pre season and games can’t start soon enough.

He's not a reverser, there's no point.
