If we are NOT in for Maddison at 40mill, we must be bringing in a hell of a player.
Or Maddison would prefer to go to Spurs.

If the price for Maddison is genuinely £40m, then I think it is telling that only Spurs are seriously in for him.

My take, for what it is worth, is he is a very Spursy player. He will look great sometimes in the highlights and be missing or wasteful the rest of the time.

It is a mute point as to whether he is better/more effective than Buendia or Coutinho, as I hope when we next buy a '10' it is a considerable upgrade on all of them, most especially in terms of affecting the game. UTV.

Or Unai doesn’t rate the bloke. Spurs do value deals they don’t sign desirable talented players.

I think Maddison is a great player but like others have said we have some good choices already in midfield

Reading through the pages, I think i probably rate Buendia higher than most on here and Cash for that matter
I don’t see them as weak links at all

my priority list of players for upgrading would be (not in any particular order)
Konsa
Bailey
Dendonker
Digne
Traoré  (been a fan of his but he’s not going to work in a Emery team)
Coutinho (I like him, but injured too much)

I'd add Buendia to that list too - decent squad player, but we need an upgrade to start most weeks

Yeah, I'm not upset we weren't in for him but was hoping Spurs would have to pay a lot more for him.

You say that like 40m is a snip.

He’s got a year left on his contract. If anything they’re over paying.

Plus he’d never have come here. He’s from
cov and has mentioned how much it means beating us before.

My logic is you replace Coutinho and Buendia naturally becomes the squad player.

I’m surprised by the anti-cash sentiment.  Wasn’t he player of the year the season before last?  Is it that he doesn’t suit the new defensive role he’s been given?

He's a good player.  Hopefully, we spend 40mill on an even better one.

He Tweeted after they beat us at Villa Park about how they were back. Trololololol. Twat.

At the money for me Rice massively overated and Maddison quite overated

Rice is expensive but he is a massive upgrade on Xhaka, it makes sense for them.
