I reckon we'll go for Smith-Rowe, they're signing Havertz and have bought Trossard too.

I think he'll come too with Emery here, and it would be a good move

I remember my first ever time walking to the Holte, aged nine, thinking “if this club can get into the to twenty in the world, revenue-wise, I’ll love them forever.”

Ha! I get your point, but during my time following the club we just haven't been able to push on to that next level and I think a part of the reason why has been the commercial and revenue side of the club.  The mid 90's was probably the biggest missed opportunity.

He's said this week he wants to stay at Arsenal and will unless Arteta doesn't want him.

Maybe he doesn’t want him, he doesn’t play him and he’s signing players in his position

Unfortunately, a lot of Midlands youngsters are already donning Man City and Liverpool kits before they ever get a chance to walk to the Holte.  The higher our profile the more chance of that love affair happening.

Smith-Rowe was someone Lange identified. Monchi/Emery might not even be interested in him if he was available.

The Pau Torres links are still around, as are links to Laporte at Man City. I find it strange that we so strongly linked to Left sided centre backs when Mings was so good last season. I get we need a strong squad, but right back and wingers are surely where we are weakest.

Imagine if Ty had a Diego Carlos style injury in the second game of the season though. Losing him for any length of time would hit us massively. So I can see why we want another top level left sided centre back.

Big problem with that for where we are at the moment is we’ll struggle to get a top level player to come and play second fiddle to Tyrone Mings

I think the idea is for there to be genuine competition for places and being able to rotate without lowering the standard.

Emery's a huge fan of Pau Torres so I'm not surprised we really want him. There's been talk this weekend that we may activate his release clause. That we're prepared to spend that much on him may be a bit surprising.

I think we need to stop thinking in terms of players playing second fiddle and others being automatic starters etc etc.

We need better players than we have now to improve the squad.

From that pool of players we pick the team to suit the match and opponents.

Nobody should be an automatic starter and everyone needs other quality players to compete for their place with.

We should be able to look at our bench, and see all spaces full with just the one keeper ideally and with quality options to come on if needed.

Maybe, but don't forget that it was Emery who added him to their first team squad so he clearly saw something in him. Personally I'd have him top of the list if we we're going for an English wide player, I think he'd be a very good fit for the role that Ramsey has been playing but also both of them would work more central so they could easily play together. I'd be pretty happy with our depth across midfield and attacking midfield if we added him and that'd leave us needing a forward/winger(I'd prefer 1 player who covers both to leave room for Archer in the squad), option at right back and backup keeper and I'd be happy.
