Newcastle?

Considered one of the bigger clubs in Europe?

If you've spent all day taking too much sun whilst doing mushrooms the whole time, and are a Newcastle fan, maybe.

If you read what I said I don't consider them bigger than us but the narrative with Newcastle has always been.

"Greatest fans in the world"
"Everyone's second team"
"55000 through the door every week"
"Sleeping giant"

Plus Shearer being a pundit will help push there agenda. Newcastle aren't currently bigger than us but with FFP loopholes a d the attraction of champions league football they are today a bigger draw than us.

Newcastle?

Considered one of the bigger clubs in Europe?

Considered by a prospective signing to be a more attractive option than Villa, both financially and professionally at the moment?

I'd say that's a pretty uncontroversial opinion. Annoyingly.

That’s not what I was referring to:

“ no matter how we are perceived by our fans we are not even close to being considered one of the big teams in Europe. Off the top of my head all of the below fall comfortably into that bracket ”

Newcastle comfortably considered one of the big teams in Europe?

yeah, with the caveat.. “ now they have been taken over but I personally dont class them as above us at the moment.”

There are 2 massive clubs in this country Man Utd and Liverpool they have a global support right across the world
Then there’s probably Arsenal

But here’s the thing,
after them there’s a load of clubs that are probably all pretty similar in size depending on their recent success and money rich owners
For instance, Chelsea and Man City arn’t even the biggest clubs in their own cities they are only perceived to be big  because they are rich

So my list of next tier big clubs, this changes all the time depending on where they happen to be at any point in time
Villa
Everton
Man City
Spurs
Chelsea
Sunderland
Newcastle
Sheff Wed

Imo

Edit - going to slip Leeds onto my list while no one is looking

I would put Arsenal in the 2nd pot as they are another media wankfest over substance club but other than that wouldn’t argue with that list

Get French Football News
@GFFN

Following the takeover from BlueCo, Strasbourg will have at least €25m to spend this summer and are hoping to make Morgan Sanson's (28) loan from Aston Villa permanent. (L'Éq)

So Chelsea buys into Strasbourg using Saudi Arabian money, and then Strasbourg buys Morgan Sanson from us. Small picture, we should get £5m; looking at the big picture, football has gone mad.

Don Mitchell
@Don7Mitchell
Excl: According to my sources in Kudus hometown Nima, his next destination will be either #BHAFC or #AFVC.

Understand that both are going all-in to secure his move and the final decision should be made by next week.

Just do it....as long as its between  £20m to £25m

Looks like we signed two youth players from Linfield. Also linked with yet another West Brom youth player (they must be getting annoyed with us now).

Agree
I don’t consider Chelsea as a ‘Big’ club.
Recently successful and rich, certainly, but I’d have Spurs down as a bigger club than them.

I actually think Newcastle are a big club, as too Sunderland, but I guess 1 club towns will always be that.

Exactly John re Man Utd and Liverpool then Arsenal. After that Spurs, us, Chelsea and Man City by now due to recent times, Everton and Newcastle (just). Then Sheff Wed, Sunderland, Forest, Leeds all similar.

I think the 2 biggest things are history (not just trophies but things like seasons in top flight and runner ups) and supporter base. Then stadium and turnover but how fashionable clubs are in the media has no bearing and that’s worth remembering.

Cole Brannigan & Callum Moreland from Linfield.

Rico Richards from West Brom.

Brannigan is an attacking midfielder.

Moreland is a centre back.

Richards is a winger.

Unfortunately, Chelsea are a legitimately massive club now. They got there via oil money so it feels tarnished but they’ve won 2 European cups and countless other trophies over a 20 year period. They’re not some flash in the pan anymore.
All this makes me feel sick to say mind you as they are the epitome of awful club awful fans.
