The Oxlade-Chamberlain rumours refuse to dissipate.

29 and often injured, not convinced. However he has played well when available at Liverpool so maybe he is a decent squad filler on a free.

Unless it was a pay as you play with no basic at all I'd hope we'd steer well clear of that one.

Let Luton or someone like that rehabilitate him.

It's not circa 2014 under Lamberk. Thank Christ.

Anyway, is Nico Williams coming to Villa this week or next? Seems to be a lot more chat about it today. 8)

I'm waiting for the man to sign

Oh Lee. :(

No mention of Paul_e's favourite Welshman, Nico Williams? According to William's agent, we've put a bid in.

I'm waiting for the man to be announced.

Also still consistently linked with Pau Torres, Nico Williams and Pedro Goncalves - all of which would improve us.

Not linked at all, but would really like us to sign Johnathon David.

The Ox ain't even PL standard these days. One last contract before he retires.

Benteke is like a love affair, okay it ended with hurt and regret, but it was awesome while it lasted and you still think back to the good times. Tammy is like an Amsterdam prostitute, we paid our 50 euros and got our fifteen minutes, but we shouldn't go all misty eyed over it or ask her to move in.

That reads like a confession 😜

What can we expect from Nico Williams, I’m not even sure what position he plays, would he offer competition in the wide attacking area’s?

Yes, plays mostly wide right but can play on the left as well, very quick, 2 footed, great on the ball. He's still learning and will be frustrating at times but he's got huge potential. Him and Jackson would be an excellent window and we'd have an attacking group that could be together for years.

Sounds promising. Let’s hope he’s got the same toughness and discipline as his brother who never missed a game through injury or suspension in summat like 5 seasons.
Jackson and Chucky sound like good players and there’s the Villareal link as well.

He was only a couple of months off playing every La Liga game for seven years. That's pretty incredible.

Bailey had high expectations and sats like this also.

You mean stats? Williams’ stats aren’t great tbh. He’s merely on the cusp of greatness. Jackson is much closer.

Anyway, we can’t just write off any speculation or players with ‘we’ve bought players who haven’t worked out before - we might do again’. It kind of goes without saying.

That YouTube clip of Benteke’s goals was great. He had it all really, what a fantastic striker he was for us.

Guzan @4'25" on is brilliant. 😆

That’s Friedel isn’t it?
I’ll have to check

You may well be right, Nigel. It's all a bit blurry (the footage AND my memory).

After looking for the umpteenth time I think you’re right, it could very well be Guzan, Rodders.

I simply couldn't imagine Big Brad One losing his cool like that - he took himself *soooo* seriously!

If it helps Friedel was gone at least a season before we signed Benteke.

Has there been anything more than the basic Emry worked with him type links to Jackson? He does look a good idea considering he can play a number of roles which will come in handy next season. Going to be very interesting how big we go in the next few weeks. The squad needs 5/6 without those already half way out the door going to cope with the amount of football. 3/4 cheapish but Emery trusted cheaper signings along the way wouldn't surprise.

The Mail via BBC transfer gossip page has us, amongst others, to a Japanese striker Keito Nakamura who I’ve never heard of, plays in Austria apparently.

BBC also report Spurs have offered £50m for Barnes AND Maddison, I’ve heard of starting off low in negotiations but that’s taking the piss. That genius Levy is at it again. Throw in a bag of Revels and I’m sure Leicester will accept.

Maybe throw Josh Onomah in as a makeweight?

Flipping heck, I didn’t realise that.
I checked some photos and the shirt sponsor tied in with Guzan.

So Rodders was on the money, even with blurry footage and all.

I reckon he might offer Ryan Mason.
