I think there is a real player in Sancho but he made a huge cock up swapping Dortmund for United when he did….had they a proper striker with Sancho and Rashford as a 3 he’d have thrived I suspect.  Don’t think he will head our way though, wouldn’t be at all surprised if he ends up as a makeweight in a Kane deal later in summer

if they pay him 350k a week then they're even more moronic than I already though. That is a new low.

Back to speculation - Odysseas Vlachodimos, Greek keeper for Benfica linked. Hopefully GK links are the start of the end for Olsen

We could always go for the keeper Benfica are looking to replace him with, Bento at Athletico Paranense in Brazil. €10m is the asking price.

I've been saying we should go for Sancho for about six months now.

He shouldn't have left Dortmund but I suspect Dortmund wanted him gone as that's how they operate. They would have wanted the money and to reinvest.

There's a top player there imo.

I like Vlachodimos, but unless we're buying Pliers as well, I think this is a link sent out to tease me.

Very good 👏

On the Saudi thing. I have a friend I met at uni who lived in Saudi Arabia when she was an early teenager due to her dad's job. She told me all her family including her then 11 year old brother were 'required' to attend a public execution once every six months or a year (I can't recall which). She was relieved they were only there for around a year so she only had to do it once. I don't whether this was a local thing or whether it's still a requirement for Westerners.

We can look forward to 20/25minute half time breaks when the Saudis own the league to get a live execution in….utter scumbags

I don't get it. I know they've got more money than they know what to do with, but what's to be gained by paying somebody like Kante £2m a week? He's coming towards the end of his career and would probably be delighted with a tenth of that. There's no way that Saudi Arabia are ever going to have a "proper" big boys league, and nobody's going to be paying big money to watch it. I don't really understand what they're trying to do.

Not sure regarding the Saudi league, but the golf is the example of what they're going for with football in general

Pity the sports media don't turn their attention on the likes of Ronaldo, Kante etc like they did with Poulter, Westwood and co when they sold out.

Apparently we are signing 16 year old midfielder Jamaldeen Jimoh from West Brom for a £1m fee with a 10% sell on clause.

We have beaten Tottenham for his signature apparently.

Manchester City & Chelsea were sniffing around him too apparently.

"The list of players who have trodden the path from the Albion academy to the Villa academy in the last few years continues to grow; Jimoh follows the likes of Timothy Iroegbunam, who spent last year on loan at Queens Park Rangers, Finn Azaz, Finley Thorndike - who is now with Birmingham City - Triston Rowe and Luka Lynch in completing that switch."

So no sour grapes then.

The article seems to have changed from what I read earlier. It did say that it's all well and good selling youth players for fair compensation but eventually you want to see them coming through into the first team. It's a fair point but it was clearly written from an Albion perspective when, saying it's concerning 2 local clubs, it could have had less bias.

Some great names there for the future Lee Child opus.

re Saudi, I never understood how it was that 15 of the 19 9/11 perpetrators were Saudi, yet American revenge for the attack seemed to involve nothing of note in the direction of Saudi Arabia.

I struggle to think of a more vile, reprehensible hell hole.

You are asserting a country with a population of 36 million based on the actions of 15 people.....some would say the hell hole is between your ears, but I would like to think you just had a bad day.
