I reckon the striker Emery wants (and he has already said he wants another one) will be someone he knows from Spain. I like Tammy, he's scored goals wherever he has been but I can't see it being him.
Agree, Tammy is too similar to Watkins, I would expect he is looking for something a bit different that can compliment him.
I do not see Tammy and Watkins working that well.

I also don't see how they would play together regulary, but that's not our problem, thankfully. One thing I will say, is that Emery has been coaching Ollie to be less, well, Ollie.  Conserve energy, stay more central, don't feel you always have to get involved, but be 100% alive when the ball reaches the attacking third.  Sound like anyone?

It's entirely possible Emery likes to play with a Tammy-style forward, and might think about buying one to compliment the one he's building with Ollie.

Tammy would fulfil a requirement to get more height into the side, not sure he works hard enough for Unai though.

Finding the right upgrade for Bailey is key, like others have said I expect it will be a player from La Liga…perhaps one of the Villareal guys or Williams

Domestically I wouldn’t be sad if we added Ndiaye from Sheffield United, always looked a very good player whenever watched them, a more consistent version of Bailey.

Of the relegation threatened sides there’s not much to  go for, Maddison is the obvious one, the Italian winger at Leeds, Barnes, Johnson, Gibbs- White, Lavia - not sure Maddison aside that any are up to being on the shopping list?

I've seen a couple of comments questioning Tammy's workmate, are you on crack? The kid used to run his bollocks off, it was the thing that really made me take to him over his undoubted ability, he turned up at what was a shambles and put his heart and soul into it.

I think like others he's too similar to Watkins but if we didn't have him Tammy would be my first choice.

I struggle to see who though.

The players scoring goals are either old and off the table (Benzema, Lewandowski, Greizmann), old and already failed in the Premier League (Joselu, Aspas, Morata, Sorloth, Braithwaite) or having that one good season after several years of not doing very much (Unal, Borja Iglesias).

I'm guessing that 33 year old Stoke reject Joselu isn't really the sit-up-and-take-note signing that we're hoping for.

I think it will be more a winger/second striker type than your straight up centre forward.

I'd rather hope that reinforcements in those positions aren't either / or.

Would Tammy really cost £80 million? It’s not as if he’s lit up Serie A.
Plus judging by the amount of rumours appearing about him, I have a feeling it’s Roma wanting him out the door and planting stories.
I think he'd be £50m max.  Big wages though.

I think he'd be a very good player for us.  Whether it's where we want to spend that sort of money is a different matter.

i think you're right. there a number of options at villarreal, and we know he is interested in nico williams at bilbao.

I’d ask again about Joao Félix. He’s done okay in a shambolic Chelsea team.

I'd take Morata, his 'failure' at Chelsea still saw him score 1 in 3 and his hold-up play is fantastic, he'd be great for Duran to learn from.

Gnonto looks a phenomenon, I would take him in a heartbeat.

For Tammy, he's done very well at Roma and no doubt Emery could help him like he's helped Ollie. He isn't as quick as Ollie though, nor does he run at players with as much dynamism - he does a lot of back to goal work, which doesn't seem to be where we're going.

Don't we already have the "a bit similar to Ollie, not sure if they can play together" player in Archer?

The trouble is, I don't think anybody other than Emery really knows what his long term plan looks like. He's getting the absolute maximum out of the squad at the moment, with his 4-4-2 consisting of Ramsey and McGinn out wide, and either Bailey or Buendia as the number 10 next to/behind Watkins. Given the chance to add 3-4 of his own players, what's that going to look like next season? More natural width from the wide midfielders? Another similar player next to Watkins, or somebody with more pace?

Exciting times anyway, especially if we get this Barcelona dude in.

I'm not sure about Gnonto, he might become a very good player but right now he's one of a very long list of players with technical ability and pace but not enough end product. he is still very young so there's every chance he'll get better but I'm not sure he's close enough to be on our list this summer.

Someone I reckon we might be interested in that would fit the profile - Dani Olmo at Leipzig.

Only 24, would play that Buendia / Ramsey role, has done well at pretty much every step up, loads of Champions League and international experience. Effectively the first name on the team sheet for Spain these days.

But probably not quite sexy enough for the teams above us. Only a year left on his contract too.
