I hope he's able to play again soon just so we have another body. But based on what I've seen so far under Emery, I hope we move him on in the summer. Everybody's increased their levels but he hasn't. We should be able to bring in someone who will be a better fit for Emery.

He is two seasons in now as well.  We need far better in that position.

Barnes and or Maddison direct replacements for Bailey and Emi B

Or either Eze or Oilize as above

Walker-Peters  - Back up right back

Navas - back up keeper

Then i would imagine a whole lot of players from outside the premiership that i would not begin to know*

*The recent interview with Martinez and Ian Wright he intimated trying to bring some of his buddies from Argentine here so maybe Dybala or even that little bloke they have playing for them  ;)

Bowen or Pulisic to replace Bailey, or get both and use Pulisic as a striker
Guendouzi
Archer to be integrated into the first team
Anybody to replace Olsen, maybe Steer can do it on his return to full health but probably need better
Starting right back to compete with Cash, Ashley to be eased out
A top class central defender who can play on either side. Hause or Chambers to move on.
Competition for Buendia, possibly give Coutinho a few months to show where he is at then move on if not doing it.

Massive no's to JWP and Onana. JWP is another Hourihane - has his uses but doesn't contribute enough for where we are going.

Ward-Prowse is one of those that would have been a great addition in our first year or two back in the PL and given what he would have added, worth the over-inflated fee. Now? Not so much.

Pulisic is a good shout.

Add Guendozi, Pau Torres and Dumfries.

One or two from Spain, like we're being linked with Kang-In Lee.

Integrate A Ramsey, Iroegbunam and Archer.

Bring in a reliable second choice keeper. I think Digne will need replacing too.

Move Bailey, Traore, Digne and Olsen on plus the older players that have already gone out on loan e.g. Nakamba.

Just a bit of work to do!

As long as his wages aren't an issue I'd keep Digne. Our left back situation has two quality players and doesn't need disrupting.

I agree entirely with this.

What we need to do is find the quality of the likes of the two LBs we have for every position.

I think Emery made that point himself in an interview a while back.

There's so much work to be done, no point at all creating another problem position when we're sorted.

If you're Digne though, would you be happy with being on the bench each week? He's meant to be getting well paid so perhaps he would. But then I'm not sure Emery would be happy with that when he can probably find better for less.

If we get in to Europe and are competitive in the domestic cups we'll be playing somewhere around 55-60 matches. We can offer 2 players 25-30 stats and 40-50 appearances in most positions. That should be enough to keep them happy.

Agreed, that's why qualifying for Europe could be a real boon if it's accompanied by significant investment in the squad.

Yep, we'll not struggle so much to give players game time if we're in Europe. Especially with 5 subs now, Digne & Moreno could both conceivably be getting 25+ appearances.

That's the big bonus for being in Europe, I think. You can keep a squad of 23/25 players all happy & playing relatively regularly bar maybe the third choice keeper.

Also, different players want different things. Digne is nearly thirty, with 50 or so caps for his county, an entire shelf of domestic and international medals and the biggest contract of his life.

He's done fine. He's not a 22 year old worrying about his minutes because if he doesn't play enough then he risks his career stagnating.

He's got plenty of years ahead of him and I'm sure he'd rather play than not. But as Risso posits, he's comfortable enough that he's not going to be rocking any boats regardless of how much he plays.

Think Digne will be a bit like Ings, we'll keep him if both parties are happy but if decent offer comes in we'll sell given the wages he's on and chance to sign a younger LB.

In response to Mister E

Yes I see as Cam being the man to be our back up next season, and probably saving us £30m on a backup striker who would be no better.

A class winger I would say is a Sancho or Williams from Bilbao, that level of player is needed.

Sorry probably didn’t word my comment the right way about Cam, I see him as a very promising player who knows how to score and is quick too and is good in the air - can’t ask for more really and he deserves to be Ollies backup next season IMO

I can see his wages being an issue to be honest.  I think just him and Coutinho going would free up a sizeable amount of wages.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Cash go in the summer as well.
