I think JWP is lightweight, good at free kicks and set pieces but not much else.

Man, people are harsh on JWP. He's an exceptional free kick taker but by being that he's just dismissed as a free kick merchant. He's a good player. He doesn't improve our first 11 so I would aim higher but I think he's better than is made out. Solid midtable player for someone.

I would prefer Guendouzi and I think we will get him... the stroppy dickhead. I tell you what there'll be some arm waving if him and Buendia are on the pitch.

Beckham had unbelievable passing from open play and and all-day engine. He was caught in the wrong era, getting stuck with right-midfield while 4-4-2 was dying. Would've been a great wing-back half a generation later.

He was shit in goal though.

I don’t see JWP starting for us, but would improve the overall quality of the squad.

Guendouzi for me plays in JJ’s slot in the team, so great for competition.

Second striker, back up keeper, right back and a quality winger are needed before another CM for me though.

You've just said on the Cam Archer thread that he should be the second striker or play alongside Watkins next season. So, are you saying here we need another 2nd striker?
A quality winger - you mean out-and-out wide boy or someone who has the ability to go wide when appropriate (I'd class Sancho as one of the former and ESR as an example of the latter, for clarity)?

I think we need to integrate Archer and replace Bailey.
Another central midfielder, reserve keeper and a right back.

Personally I think that we need 2 more attacking options to replace buendia and Bailey. Coutinho will probably go too I'd imagine

As much as i think hes a smug twat, Beckham was an absolutely outstanding player. He was one of those that you had to see live and with view of the full pitch, to see just how good. And as much as i despise them, Man Utd had about as perfect a 4-4-2 midfield as you could get with Keane, Scholes, Beckham and Giggs.

As for JWP for us, i think we probably only need one midfielder in the summer but it needs to be someone of at least the standard of Kamara and a proper defensive player who will allow the other midfielders we have to play with complete protection. So no to JWP for me.

That Man Utd 4-4-2 was the last gasp of that system, and it died pretty much the year after they scraped the Champions League thanks to a couple of set-piece shenanigan goals (do *not* ask me to be fair about that). When it did, there was no obvious position for Beckham, neither a winger nor a deep-lying central midfielder, and it showed pretty much all the rest of his career.

I think we need the top center mid with a top quality winger to replace either Bailey or Traore (probably Bailey as it stands), the best up and coming right back we can find, a more than competant stand in keeper and i'd still go with another quality CB. I'd integrate Archer back in and give Young another year.

we pretty much agree.
I dont think we can expect more than 3  players to walk straight into the first team.

Plus given the change in the performance levels of McGinn, Luiz, Watkins, Mings, Konsa etc since Emery got his hands on them, I'm surprised that people don't think he's capable of improving the current performance levels of somebody like Ward-Prowse as well.

If Everton drop I wouldn't be against us going for Onana at Everton.  Other than that, I'll leave it to Emery who I'm certain has certain players in mind. The more unheard of the better.

I don't agree with replacing Bailey, given where we want to be, I'd be looking to add another player that can play in that position. Similar with the striker slots. I'd guess that one of Duran and Archer may go out on loan and that we'll bring in another because we need that strength in depth, particularly if we can finish top 7 and have Europa League/Conference football to contend with.
