I think Guendouzi offers energy and, perhaps, the potential to cover a more advanced role as well as being a DCM. Plus if t'internet is to be believed, he would be cheaper than Neves. Perhaps 20-25m Euros.

Reports today claim Newcastle are after him but I did like the quote they carried:

'Guendouzi is a fan on the Villa gaffer, gushing praise on him after he guided Villarreal to the Europa League in 2021. "What a journey! This Football… so smart and elegant. You made the dream of an entire city, of a club, a team, and of all the fans come true!

“You did it! You know how to win trophies! Hats off Monsieur Emery. You are so unique.”

He added: “I am honored (sic) and proud to have had the opportunity to evolve by your side. Words will never be strong enough to qualify your personality, your benevolence and your authenticity in human relationships."

I'd hoped we'd made an agreement with Marseille back in January to sign him in the summer.

If we're after him I'd be amazed if he doesn't come in, the level of respect he has for Emery is insane.

Jesus, I've heard wedding vows less gushing than that!

Those Frenchies are so smooth with their feelings even when they're not being gay or 'owt.

And then there's Bad English, he has the shirts but there it ends.

Linking us with Andre Almeida from Valencia.
Used to play for Vitoria Guimaraes, our Portuguese team

Us and Brighton said to be interested with €30m being the price, of which Guimaraes would get 30%. Right side midfielder, promising but not a straight in the first team signing.

I'm slightly worried by Kamara's injuries this season, so another driving force in midfield is needed I think.

Physically he looks too lightweight for a modern day footballer, but then when you watch him play is doesn't seem any kind of an issue.

To be fair, I think most of the injuries have been from Bad tackles - I think the most recent one certainly was

But maybe this is the point - he's fierce and strong in the tackle, but does he have the physique to back it up? Does this get him injuries in the Premier League? He's young, it's okay, I'm sure he's getting bigger all the time, but I agree that we need a bit more in that position.

Needs to build a bit more muscle during the pre season I think. That clogger from Palace hurt him with a bad tackle though.

Certainly that one was. It was fairly clear to me at the time he was instructed to get Kamara out of the game such was his influence. It’s the Viera way. Or rather, was.

Whatever the cause, if as I suspect may be the case he doesn't play again this season, he'll have missed half of it through injury. I'd therefore make sure we get at least one Gunedouzi type in. We've seen before with Grealish how over reliance on one player can scupper us.

We've done pretty ok since he got injured tbf. But we definitely need another option in that position
