He’s a player I was hoping we could sign from PSV, but looks like he went to Inter for £14m two years ago, and hasn’t set the world alight. Yes, surely we wouldn’t be interested at £40m. He’s 26, so little resale value from a 4 year contract. There must be better value than that available.

I’m no sage on European clubs and players but I heard on a podcast last night that Inter have the best right back in the world, currently injured, and thanks to Dumfries they haven’t missed him at all.

I’m sure Monty and/or someone else can correct me/fill me in on the deets.

They play a back 3 don't they, which would make Dumfries first choice at Right Wingback.

I'd definitely take him, as I've said elsewhere I'd like us to develop the squad where we can flip what we're doing now with a very attacking RB and more conservative LB (and all the shuffling in midfield and attack that would come from that). To that end Dumfries has the pace and delivery to match Moreno and, at 27 is just about the right age to come in and be an immediate asset.

That's a good point about the full backs. Imagine the utter panic we're going to cause teams next year when Emery has added 3 to 4 of his own players to the squad.
