Yep, he loses concentration at times or is just a little lost and a break would do him good. Maybe he and his brother will be interchangeable...

Age doesn’t really come into it if he’s not performing though. We need consistency so need to buy somebody who can deliver that. Ramsey can then make sure he plays well when called upon.

Consistency usually comes with age and experience, and Ramsey is getting there but has a way to go.

Agreed. I love him as a player but we need an alternative in his position for when it's not going so well for him, like currently.

Like most of this season. I've always thought Gerrard brought him back too soon and allowed him to play his way to fitness. He's still not pulling up trees though I do think the experience will lead to him having a great season in 23/24. The talent is there.

Probably the players that Chelsea will have brought in on the first day the transfer window opens.

I don't see how Chelsea don't end up having a big clear out this summer, given the number of players they signed last summer who've barely featured, or not impressed at all.  Then you've got the new manager, who will definitely want to bring in some of his own players (no idea how they recruit a genuinely top coach by saying "we've bought all this shit, that's what you've got to work with").

Plus they've got no European football next season, which reduces even further the playing opportunities for their fringe players.

Maybe there will be a bargain to be had in their fire sale? From their fringes I'd take Pulisic and Chalobah as squad players, certainly.

Chelsea have a June 30th deadline to clear out some deadwood:

'...However, Chelsea might have to hurry to get some of these players off the books in the first few weeks after the transfer window opens on June 10.

For those sales to be included in their financial accounts for 2022-23, Chelsea have to register them before June 30.

What's making things more complicated is that Chelsea can only make deals with other English clubs - which means they might have to sell to their Premier League rivals.'

I don't know why any of that is but they'll be selling, alright. I like Pulisic and would have him as a Bailey replacement.

I’d definitely take Pulisic as a Bailey upgrade

Pulisic is a no-brainer if Chelsea's American owner wants to sell his highly marketable "Captain America". I'm sure Wes would be happy to welcome him.

even when he isn't playing well his ability to drive forward with the ball creates a chaos. Where he needs to improve is in the quick simple passes to keep the ball moving and he really should be getting more shots away. When he does shoot he's a good finisher and generates some serious power so we need to work with him on that late break into the box and 1-touch shot.

Still there's every chance he'll end the season in double figures for goals and assists (he has 9 from 32 so far) and I'll take that given it is his second season and that is often a step backwards for young players.

The International transfer window doesn't open until the 1st July, whereas in England we can transfer amongst ourselves from mid June (not sure of the exact date, but it was the 10th June last year).  So, if Chelsea want to sell players, and have those deals included in their 22/23 accounts for FFP purposes, then their ONLY option is to shift them to English clubs. Any international sales won't help them with FFP for this year's books.  If they've somehow managed to avoid FFP issues despite all this spending, then it doesn't matter anyway.

He gets a 6.5 for me for the season. Unless you're his Dad obviously, where he gets a 7.5. He's no where near his potential. As I said, I expect a lot more from your lad next season. The talent is there.

Thanks for clearing that up, makes sense.

JJ like McGinn is better forward than midfield, I thought we were weakened against Wolves playing JM in midfield
and it was kind of ridiculous him trying to mark a player several inches taller at corner kicks. I thought it was a mistake by Emery.

The McGinn-Dawson scrap before the corner must have been a factor in the goal, it seemed to break the player's concentration.

Presumably Emery look to bring in some height in his recruitment as we often seem to having a McGinn or Buendia on someone who towers over them.

I'm going to put 2+2 together and say that Alemany is going to bring in Busqeuts on a free.

Like several other teams we have the best headers in zonal positions (Watkins near post, Mings and Konsa more in the middle) and players like McGinn, Ramsey, etc. are there to block - aka wrestle with - the opponents that are a threat.

I don't think McGinn or others in that situation are expected to compete for and win headers against the most dangerous opponents. They are supposed to prevent them getting to the ball or at the very least making sure they don't have a clear run. Hence the use of blockers by the attacking side to disrupt the blockers on the defending team.
