Somehow I don't see Archer as a back up this season.

I think that if were are going to sign another centre-forward then it makes sense that it's one with experience rather than another youngster, who is happy to fill in as and when required and one that plays in a slightly different way Ollie.

Let's just have a better one than Bamford please.

It’s a strange one. We all want Archer to be given a chance but aren’t comfortable with him being first choice back up just in case he doesn’t make the step up (& OW gets injured) and/or because we think we need at least better than Watkins to make the step up and challenge top 4/5

Diaby can play there too. And Duran.

I wonder if the Bamford thing is because we are sniffing round the other Leeds players, Adams and Gnonto.

Lots of people have said this about Diaby but according to transfermarkt he's played there 3 times in 200+ games.

Is there even a Bamford thing? The last thing I can see that John Percy has put online about us was nearly two weeks ago, that we might up our bid for Diaby, a player that until that point he'd never even suggested we were interested in.

So I think it has to be a bit better sourced than what we currently have to make it a "thing".

I can think of a million reasons not to sign Bamford, and none whatsoever to sign him. Got to be a load of made up bollocks, this would be up there with the Harewood and Heskey signings.

I'd put it somewhere in between the 'predictable, uninspiring' Heskey and the 'WTF i thought we'd got a borderline billionaire new owner' Harewood. But not nearly as bad as 'Drunken Drinky'.

There’s not enough options at the moment. If Watkins or even Archer got injured at the start of September the season is pretty screwed.

I really don’t want to see Diaby, Bailey or Tralee being used as CF options if this happens.

I think Duran needs a loan.

I think our main focus should be on getting a decent back up keeper. Illan Meslier at Leeds would be my choice, he's sort of out of favour isn't he?  Yes, he's looked a bit ropy for Leeds in a  few games last season but he isn't that bad - nowhere near as bad as Olsen and at 23 can improve massively watching Martinez.

Elanga to Forest done. Does this free up Johnson for us or have we moved on from him ?

Anyone who thinks there's something there might want to have a word with Leeds fans.

If I were Johnson, I'm not sure I would come to us. He's at an age where he really needs to be playing every week and it's hard to see him doing that here.

I think we'd be best off going to the other end of the scale and looking for someone in their 30s who's got the experience to be able to lead the line if needed but who won't mind missing games.

I have no idea who fits the bill though.

Yeah, and I guess that anyone of that profile and is good enough that we might want them is almost certainly going to be the sort of player who might feel they've done their struggle and have earned a couple of years of Saudi millions.
