You think we are going to bring in 9 players?  That's some revolving door.

Yeah, not happening. Some youth players can fill some of those spots.

I would guess we had two shopping lists.
1: Qualified for Europe
2: Not qualified for Europe

We now know which list we’re using. Exciting Summer ahead

Just guessing but I think the shopping list is very similar/the same either way. I think qualifying will have a greater influence on who we retain in the first team squad.

Certainly.
I didn’t mean totally different (probably badly worded)
I just wonder if a couple had been sounded out, via agents, and were told there would only be a chance if we could offer European football. No guarantee, but we would at least be in the running.

A might have been a bit overoptimistic/ unrealistic after our win yesterday, keeping hold of my favourites and dreaming about new ones to strength the squad.

I would like Barnes , should be a realistic target for us, has the right age and potential. Unlike some on here I would keep Bailey, we did see yesterday (again) what he can do - again has the right age and some potential. No secret that i m not a fan of Cash and doubt his potential (I ask my self if I m scapegoating him a bit though). Will be interesting to see who we are able to attract. Realistically we have to see that we are not seen as one of the top club of Europe now so probl wont get the top players? Of late our links gone from Real Madrid (Asensio) to Leicester (Barnes) - Barnes might be as good a player though (dont know anything about Asensio have to admit).

Regarding Barnes, doesn’t our left midfielder typically drift in field to create space for the LB, whereas Barnes looks more like a ‘chalk on your boots’ winger.  I like the player, but not sure he fits our system and too expensive for a ‘plan b’.

So where I’m sat this morning:

GK: Martinez (Need new back up)
RB: Cash (Need competition and a Moreno like signing) - KKH promoted or out on loan again?
LB: Moreno, Digne (nothing required)
CB: Mings, Konsa, Carlos, Chambers (not sure we need any activity here, are any U21s ready?)
Utility defender: Young, one more season and if Chambers seen as utility then another right CB

CM: Luiz, Kamara, Dendoncker (I’d promote Ireogbhunam but am unsure on the Donk so maybe an additional signing required to bring this to 4)
AM: McGinn, Ramsey(J), Buendia, Coutinho (one addition required and/or potentially promote Ramsey(A)/Bidace)

Wide attackers: Bailey, Traore (I think we need an additional starting player here, go big)

Strikers: Watkins, Duran (I think Duran on loan, promote Archer to the squad and go big on another striker)

So picking the bones out of that:

New Reserve Keeper
New “Moreno level” RB
New CM to replace Donk
New AM required
New Wide attacker
New Striker

In terms of the youths definitely promote Archer, Ramsey(A) and Ireogbunam to the squad and let’s see with KKH and Bidace.

Busy summer ahead.

we need 5 more players if we're going to compete in ECL.
Archer, A Ramsey, Nakamba, Sanson, Davis, Wesley, Ireogbhunam and Hause are coming back.

Davis, Wes and Hause will almost certainly leave if we can find someone to have them.

Still none the wiser if Sanson is any good or not, Nakamba would be useful in the squad given the amount of games we'll (hopefully) be playing, but might be a good chance to cash in.

I keep changing my mind on Barnes, I'd rather have Maddison to go straight into the team and push Buendia down to the bench. I'd flog Coutinho.

I would rather Gibbs White.
Not keen on Barnes.

It's not impossible that say, Newcastle have targets who would join them now they've qualified for the Champions League who wouldn't if they hadn't.

But as you say, I can't imagine that there's anyone for whom Conference League qualification was a deal-breaker, ahead of all the millions of pounds that we'd likely be throwing at them.

Indeed. "Well I wasn't sure about the £150,000 a week, but now we've got an away tie in Oswestry to play New Saints, where do I sign?!" ;)
