Have we ever had a less appetising pre season tour than this?

The cities are fine but would much prefer to have non-PL opposition. I guess it's all about 'growing the brand' stateside.
I can think of a lot of better destinations in the USA.
Washington has some obvious Iconic sights, Philadelphia is a dump and Orlando great if you like Tourists and Theme Parks.

I guess it could be fun if combining a bit of a road trip.

Philly's alright, huge parts have been gentrified in the past few years plus NY is an hour on the train and DC and hour the other direction, mind you last time I took the AMTRAK from Philly to NY it was cheaper to fly. I'm tempted by this one, take in the game and a few days in NYC either side.
Plus Philly has the best taxis by far, I give you Freedom Taxis.

Gotta say, I've been in Philly for years now and I've come to love it. I will certainly be at the Newcastle game and might drive down for the Brentford match.

Skinny Joey Merlino is a bit of a hero of mine.

Apologies in advance if you’ve had a bad Joey-related experience.

Percy, say it ain't so!

In January 2023, Merlino reappeared in the news when he posed for a photograph with former U.S. president Donald Trump at a Trump-owned golf club, with both men making a "thumbs up" gesture.[70]

Oh I know. I think most of them are Trumpers unfortunately. Whaddayougonnado? I can’t have the feds as my heroes.

Is he still playing at 1930s-style celebrity and not paying his gambling debts? Genuinely appears to be an absolute bellend even by US gangster standards. And a shit shot.

30 years at the top in this day and age, with all the surveillance and rats, is no mean feat. Credible mobologists put him in the all-time top ten.  He is a bit of a shit shot though, yes. Joey Chang was only crippled, but there were mitigating circumstances for the failed Stanfer hit - shooting somebody in a moving vehicle from another moving vehicle on the freeway in rush hour strikes me as quite difficult,

I'm sure he's a very competent mobolist, just wondering if he has anything to commend him.

I just think he’s cool, and good at what he does.

In that world, these days, not flipping when he got 14 years is commendable.

I’m going to try for the Fulham game for sure and possibly the Newcastle if I can swing it the weekend before.

I'm quite interested in travelling over for the Brentford game and having a few days in Washington. The FedExField, Landover, Maryland has a capacity of 67,000, surely no requirement to purchase tickets up front from the Premier League tour outlets? Which will more than likely be at inflated prices.

yeh I wanted to go to that one alos but my schedule doesn't work for that weekend. Not sure how they will market it. On a global scale Villa vs Brentford in DC won't sell out 67k seats. I'm a little surprised at the competition to be honest as I thought PL vs other non PL sides might have been more appealing.

FedEx Field is an absolute dump. A concrete, lifeless mega-bowl that is falling apart in a swampy marshland. You'll have much more fun in Philadelphia at a much nicer venue.

I’ve registered on the Premier League site, I do wonder how they’ll price this, I’ll wait and see what they come up with and no doubt just turn up and pay on the day as there’s zero chance any of the games will sell out.

It's more the appeal of getting to spend time in Washington, and the early kick off, than the stadium for me. Is Philadelphia any good?

Philadelphia is a lovely city, lots of history and tradition. We played there in a pre season game a number of years ago. The Fonz got the winner in a 1-0 win. They have a nice stadium too. So it’s a good place to visit and should be a decent game. Their team is decent.

Rumours of an away friendly in Europe on the weekend of 5/6 august - supposedly "big" opposition.

Just bought tickets for the family to watch the Brentford v Fulham and Newcastle v Villa games on July 23rd (two games for the price of one !).

The tickets are on pre-sale right now...go to ticketmaster.com and when prompted enter the code "PLUSA" to unlock. We are high up in section 225 ($40+fees), but it will be the first time my daughter will see the Villa live and she's already beyond excited.
