Moving on, is there a more embarrassing club anthem than West Ham's 'Blowing Bubbles'?

Not embarrassing but Everton's Dixon of Dock Green and Grand Old Team shite is a right old dirge.

I agree but it’s Z Cars.

Of course. Thanks gents.

It's not only shite, it also carries the whiff of marching season and bowler hats.

Everton are traditionally the Catholic club on Merseyside.

I didn't know that Dave, and to be fair I wasn't suggesting it was a knowing wink from the club when they play it, just that it puts me in mind of it.

I'm still mad at Danny Ings that he didn't write us Villa fans a long love-letter of goodbye

Have you seen the price of stamps?

I had always assumed it was Liverpool because of their strong Irish following.

Anyway I had a quick Google and it's apparently a myth as both clubs were formed from the same methodist church, and Everton's supposed Catholicism may have just come from the fact they had a load of Irish players in the 50's.

And they can't even say bubbles properly, they say 'Babbles'.

Frankly, they can ‘stick their fucking bubbles up their arse’

Or as sang by other London clubs ‘stick yer facking babbles ap yer arse’.

Greetings Villans. Another claret and blue derby is upon us. Or is it now the Danny Ings Derby? Either way there's fewer of them now that those pretenders Burnley are out of the mix. I'd have posted earlier in the week but I've been mad busy at work. Gotta get all the money in I can what with this cost of living crisis malarky. It's over £7 a pint in some pubs in London now. That's almost as bad as the £35m we reportedly paid for Gianluca Scamacca.

West Ham are on the back of some sizzling hot form. Since winning at Villa Park back in August in what might well have been one of the most boring games of football I have ever seen, we've only won 5 more times - all at home. A poor Wolves team, a terrible Bournemouth team, an Everton team in the dying days of the Lampard comedy era, and a Forest team absolutely lacking quality. The only half decent team we've beaten is Fulham, way back in October, in a game where we were lucky both to get the goals we got (from memory) and that we were up against possibly the only team consistently more generous to us with the points than Aston Villa.

Scoring goals has been the major issue generally, although we've not been great at the back, with certain players falling off a cliff ability wise (Antonio, Cresswell), others being out of form for long periods (Bowen, Soucek, Coufal), unfortunate injuries (Scamacca, Zouma, Cornet, Aguerd) and numerous new signings failing to adapt/fit in. We've also struggled to get a regular settled back 4 through injuries and lack of form, plus Craig Dawson somehow getting homesick for the west midlands(!)

Add into all that you have David "one tactic" Moyes and his complete lack of attacking ethos and dour stubborn inability to make a game changing substitution, or any sub in general before the 70th minute.

Nonetheless he remains inexplicably in his position, mainly I think because Sullivan cannot find anyone better who is willing to work with him, or else because he's too tight to pay the compo to bin him off. So no Unai Emery style new manager bounce for us. Our saving grace will most likely be that there is somehow at least 3 teams shitter than us at present, and that Danny Ings was allowed to bring his claret and blue shirt down the M40 to help bang in the goals that we otherwise could not bang in.

Anyway, you lot look good now. Not that I've watched much of you. Seeing other teams playing decent football is depressing. Regardless, the Villa fan in my office thinks Ings is nailed on to score. He might well be right, but it'll require West Ham moving up the pitch as a team, with purpose, and stringing together more than three passes that aren't sideways or backwards for him to have the opportunity.

My biggest hope is that the Villa players get so bored playing against our negative tactics they lose concentration and allow us to nick a goal on the break.

West Ham 1-0 win. Ings to score. Maybe.
