That Buendia goal wouldn't have counted if it had been at Filbert Street.
 >:( Still bitter after nearly 53 years  >:(

Please explain. Can't be that long since Chris Nicholl got greedy and scored two goals for each side.
"A danger in both penalty areas" as my dad's Oxford United supporting mate says.

Second best for the first hour but the penalty changed momentum completely. Excellent second goal.

Didn't feel like that to me mate, thought we had them at arms length at all times and I can't remember their crowd being quieter, they knew they were getting fuck all

We had one bounce out after crossing the line and the officials missed it.

McGinn motm for me too.

He's back, he was great last week and again today, they couldn't deal with him at all.

Poor first half.  Much better second and getting in front lifted us.  Second goal was really well worked

April 1970. Villa are playing at promotion chasing Leicester on a Saturday night and we are on in deep relegation trouble. Pat McMahon shoots, it  goes in hits the back stanchion and bounces straight  back out. Villa celebrate but the ref incredibly says play on thinking its come off the post. Leicester go straight up the other end and put the ball in the net ! Pandemonium ensues and in the end the ref keeps everything at 0-0. While this is all going on at the other end Peter Shilton goes into the back of his goal and wipes the mud mark off the stanchion. Leicester eventually win 1-0. By the following season the design of the goal net has been changed so the same thing can't occur again. Thats all too late for us as by this time we are starting life in Division 3 for the first time in our history.

If my memory serves me correctly Filbert Street had very shallow goals. The ball hit a stanchion at the back of their net and flew out and they went straight up our end and scored.(The last bit may be a false memory).I am sure Shilton later admitted ours had been a goal. I do remember it got a bit lively after the game.

I remember some years ago at the baseball ground. From what I could see Kenny Swain rounded the keeper and scored. The ball went through the back of the net and the ref gave a goal kick. It is my imagination or was there anyone else there that day to see it ?

A pleasing win, 10 points off the third bottom team.  We need a big summer and that's what Purslow said he's expecting.  Lovely goal from Buendia and good see see Ollie netting again.

"!0 points off the third bottom team" is such a strange way to describe our league position, given we're 4 points from the European places.  I get we've spent the best part of a decade generally looking down rather than up, but surely it's time to change a little now?

Let me know when we get there and I will join you in the celebration.  Next season, maybe, but we had such a bad start and need to make absolutely sure we don't get sucked back in.  We also need to get rid of the minus goal difference to get into the top 10.

Had a great day out in Merseyside.
Brilliant to see Villa win although we were much better against both Leicester and Arsenal, but there you go!
Great result which settles us down again.
And a big mention for Ollie Watkins and his 5 in a row.

A really shit remainder of the season of W3 D1 L10 would see us comfortably safe, how can anyone be worried we'll be dragged into it?

4 points off 7th place which apparently qualifies for the Europa conference league.

Warning! Reading about how qualification to this competition works will mash your brain !
