They tried to rough us up early doors and Onana should have been sent off. Ghastly to watch, but the result is most welcome.

Does Martinez get booked every time we win?

Funny old game, we’ve played some lovely football against Leicester and Arsenal and get stuffed, play poor today and win comfortably.

Special mention to Ollie for 5 in a row.

According to the Beeb, it's a record for a Villa player in the Premier League.

Delighted with the 3 points, it was never going to be pretty against DycheBall. Onwards and upwards!

Three points closer to the summer, which is when we really kick on. Based on the first hour today, needs to be busy.

Clean sheet and 3pts. Exactly what was needed, and hopefully leads us in to a good long run of fixtures which we should get a decent return of points from. Could realistically be looking at renewing passports.

Obviously this being Villa that's not going to happen. But, you know, it's nice to pretend.

It would be good to at least be in the conversation for Europe this season, with an outside chance depending on how the LC final goes etc going into the final few weeks of the campaign.
I really, really want us to be in that shit intertoto cup thing. No stress with it, we can field mostly squad players, ones getting back up to speed - nice easing in to regular European competition where we'll still do pretty well with 16 decent quality players plus 5 or 6 of our current 'squad' players like Bertie.

If we ever get to a point in our future were we have to go for Dyche, that'll be it for me. We were'nt great by any stretch of the imagination but fuck me they were rancid. Seemed there whole game plan was built around getting the ball to McNeil and thats it.

Didn't see much of the game, but it sounds like Bailey was rubbish?

Apparently the last player to score in five consecutive games for Villa was Paul Rideout.

Dyche is one of those Myth Mangers that I hate. Allardyce, Warnock, Bruce, Redknapp. Like one-speed personality trumps tactical acumen. Jumped up PE teachers, the lot of them.

We played poorly in the first half (10 mins aside), but they didn't look like scoring.  Second half I thought we were better.  I thought our penalty was a bit soft, but great stuff from Watkins with his 5 in a the last 5 - that's pretty amazing.  We need better players in central defence to be able to play the way Emery wants.

Everton.  Oh dear.  I hope they get relegated.
