Two keepers, FFS, what on earth is the point of that? At least put a youth player on the bench who you might need to call on, or who you can throw on for 30 minutes if we're 3-0 up.
Sinisalo is a youth player!

I know that. They key part of that is "...who you might need to call upon". When has a team ever needed three goalies in a squad?

Two keepers on the bench again does rather tell its own story about our January window.

Nevertheless, it's a decent team that looks pound-for-pound better than theirs, I'd say.

I'm not sure what it says. Kadan Young has bene on the bench regularly since the WC and is available so if it was just about lack of numbers you'd still have him ahead of Sinisalo.

I wonder if it 's because Emery likes the look of him and wants to get him used to the 'experience' with us but doesn't want to put the pressure on him potentially having to come into the team if Martinez gets a knock

Surely he can just sit in the dugout without having to waste a space in the squad? It's madness.

Is it though? We had Kadan Young on the bnech for weeks and never saw him play so I'm not sure this is all that different.

If Emery wants to use 1 spot on the bench as a way of rewarding players for training well (or similar) then it's fine by me, even if it looks a bit weird.

Not surprised Digne is starting, Moreno was poor against Southampton, hopefully Duran will get some game time.

I can't help but feel that, had we signed Guendouzi or whoever, they wouldn't be coming into *that* squad for Matty Cash, say.

I guess he rates Sinisalo and wants to integrate him into the squad, although he doesn't quite trust him yet. Maybe he will be our number 2 goalie next year. Bench looks pretty good actually, although pity K.Young isn't on it.

Agree with this but we might need an additional outfield player on the bench when play Dyche's Everton.

Exactly, our U21s haven't played for over a week and don't have their next game until Friday so every single one of them would be available for this game and we know a fair few have been training with the first team so this is a choice Emery has gone with, not something he's doing just to fill the bench.

I thought Leicester had key players out injured-one definitely being that fucker, Vardy.

Looking at their team and subs bench, who do they have out? And there is that fucker Vardy on the bench.

I hate this game. Please win, Villa.

Maybe K Young played earlier for the U18

Nope, wasn't in the team or on the bench for them.

I don’t get that at all. I wish someone in the media would ask him because there is literally no need for it. If you don’t trust Olsen that you need to add the kid, don’t put him in the squad and add another player.

Maybe blooding him as back up keeper next year

So our only bit of transfer business was a left back, and yet we start the old one, then put two keepers on the bench. What a truly shit transfer window January was.
