I'm still haunted by the memory of Chelts choosing to sing "Aston Villa, That's Who" the night before the Arsenal FA Cup final in the pub in Swiss Cottage.

Some things are best left in the past. In fact, The Bells are Ringing is best taken out to sea, and dumped in the Mariana trench. And then concreted over, just in case.

100% this, it's shit and the lyrics make Smirker seem like Bernie Taupin.

It's probably a similar thing to TFAUSM. If you grew up with them then they mean a fair bit and are very Villa things, if you weren't following us back then and only heard them more recently then on their own they probably don't seem much.

The lads I knock about with on match days always sing "Picture on the Wall" by the Naturalites. A really old reggae tune that's got nothing to do with the Villa but it's had many an airing by lots of Villa fans of a certain age all over the country and even in Europe so for us it's become a bit of a Villa anthem wherever we find a juke box or a dj.

Pretty sure it goes back to at least the early 70s. I remember Carl Chinn talking about it and saying he couldn't remember a time when it wasn't sung.

Just seen that. Strange one as from 72 until post Rotterdam I don't recall it ever being sang, home or away. My guess is it was obviously sang back in the 60s but disappeared at some point and returned around 83.

I first went up in '75 and it was certainly sung until the end of the decade. Then it became this song we all knew but it never seemed to get an airing.

Utter classic! I still have the 12 inch from '83.

Sorry if has been mentioned before. This was a song from the early 80's ?  "Villa score, Villa score once you get one you'll get more ,will sing you assembly when we get to Wembley."

After several FA Cup wins with Unai in charge I’d like to see an updated version of “my eyes have seen the glory of the the Villa win the cup”

I first heard it sung frequently during the 80-81 season. Always associate it with those happy times

I remember that being sung during an awful spell around 1979 when we just couldn’t buy a goal. Finally broke the deadlock with a 3-0 at home to Southampton but the song stuck for a while.

One we could revive if someone can rework the bit where they sing "will sing you assembly" cos it makes no sense and messes with my ocd
