1-0
Paul McGrath and Shaun Teale will both head the ball against their own crossbar but Andy Townsend will pop up the winner in the second half after a great long pass from Neil Cox.

Was working late last night and during a break I must have been feeling masochistic with deadlines pending and managers ready to bark today but I found myself searching for footage of the 90/91 last-gasp FA Cup Third Round defeat at Wimbledon in the fog.

I've read about it a lot on here so was curious to see the lowlights:  mid-winter misery, fog and rain, Alan Cork in tight shorts etc.

Alas it doesn't seem to be on Youtube, they only had the original 1-1 VP highlights (Cascarino knock-down to Stuart Gray).
The algorithm steered me towards the 1993 Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to the Don's thoug, in the same round and time of year but different fog. And by 'eck, Stan Staunton and Shaun Teale's penalties were absolute rippers! Deserved to win any shoot-out.

Bozzie pulled up with cramp halfway through and soldiered on but it was in vain, he was still 13 months away from his Tranmere superman exploits.

The morning of that Wimbledon game in '93 we had a Solihull Schools Cup game against Tudor Grange, and Lee Hendrie scored all 8 goals for us before the ref, who was our PE teacher, threw in the towel for them with everybody piss wet through.

Ha! Wasn't he on Villa's books at that stage too? Think he signed YTS in '92.

He was with Villa yes, but 92-93 was our last year at school.

Its a coin flip. We could either win comfortable 3-0 or bet absolutely battered 0-4. Depends on how many players decide they want to turn up or not. What odds could we get that the whiny little bitch Jessie Marsch will complain to the media about something regarding Villa? "Its not fair, they are too slow & we cant play against them..." Its called tactics. Dickhead.

If we win 7 nil we go above Chelsea!

I'd forgotten they're playing Fulham tonight, so if they lose 1 nil, we only need to win 6 nil!

The big West London derby, bound to get a bit tasty!

Always disappointed when a match thread is started and the opposition isn't given their proper name (Louzie has got in right on the GTC thread).

I think we'll win. I hope the players have had a bollocking this week and will show some sort of response.

I have no idea who is fit/unfit for this one

They rarely do though, The inconsistency drives me mad, it's always:

Played well - "if we play like that all season, we'll be ok." Next game, absolute dog muck.
Played badly - "we had a great response in training this week, we'll try to put it right on the pitch." Next game, absolute dog muck

Too many sub-standard players. They did for Smith, they did for Gerrard, and if we don't replace them, they'll do for Emery.
ha! So we only play well if we'd played averagely the previous game!

Silly boyish grin from me.  That's brilliant.  And very naughty at the same time.

We have to come flying out of the blocks tomorrow with all guns blazing. We've got to break this habit of allowing teams to seize the initiative on our patch. I heard a stat today that we've won 17 out of our last 37 home games. That is just not good enough and needs to change. Starting tomorrow night.
