Arteta made 7 changes tonight to face a side a league above Stevenage. He has included a few younger players which Emery didn't do. Difference being they are taking care of business and we didn't. That's on the players. Our side was good enough to beat a league two opponent.

As for the second paragraph: speculation, your honour!

I dread to think of what this site would have been like today had Gerrard been manager yesterday - I think the current manager is getting off relatively lightly as his "in game management" was woeful - as poor as anything Slippy G presided over - in fact he was sacked for less I have witnessed many poorer performances during my 60+ years of supporting the Villa but not felt this utterly embarrassed at being humiliated at home by a lower league side.As for the post match statement - isn't that what he is paid for - i.e. motivation
So they are implementing the manager's tactics and game plan.aftet being chosen by the aforementioned to do so? Marvellous!
[Villa being Villa in the FA cup but you don't expect it at home against Stevenage . The manager and half hearted players need to have a complete rethink . Let's not forget the shambolic first half against Wolves this week. We're going backwards
I felt it should have been a yellow card and a free-kick outside the area for the shirt pull.

Yesterday was dreadful, but Emery has had 6/7 games in which we’ve beaten an in form Man United for the first time in 27 years, an in form Brighton and a top 4 Spurs side away. Absolutely zero comparison, none.

I can only guess that he decided to play advantage whilst their man was still on his feet.We can argue about penalties, free kicks, red cards all we like, at the end of the day it's angels on pinheads IMV. If you defend and foul like that in that area you're asking for trouble

I'd expect experienced footballers to be getting to grips with that, especially against 4th division sides.
