A cracking result today! Well done to the players and Unai! It’s always great to get a result against that lot at their place. UTV!

Great result and the nice thing was, we didnt have to play that well to get it. It was organised, everyone knew their job and we limited them to one decent chance from memory. Encouraging.

Bailey should have been taken off after 10 mins when he was holding his leg.

Terrific result: was prepared to take a draw at best! Hope John's & Douglas's injuries not too serious.

Not sure where Dendoncker was today but he'd be a good one to bring in on Wednesday. We will surely rotate a bit as good as today was so I'd expect Ings to start and Cash and Emi to return.

Top win anyway. Fair to say I didn't fancy us one bit at 1pm when team was announced but was a pretty straightforward win and Spurs certainly have feel of club who'll start falling down the league table so it's possible we can be in mix if we can win a couple more in January.

At half time they asked Redknapp what the game needed and the plank came out with ‘a bit of magic from a Kane or Son’ - spot on Jamie they both did disappearing acts second half.

Superb hard working performance, every player was at their job, even likes of Bailey for whom not a lot was happening still worked hard.

Kamara & Luiz taking most of plaudits quite righty but good to see McGinn getting better game by game

That's what we have had as a manager for too long.  "A bit of magic" stuff of the dinosaurs.  What we have now is the real deal.  An actual coach.  Hallelujah!

It’s why idiot pundits like Redknapp come out in favour of their idiot mates like Gerrard and Bruce….the bit of magic line sums them up

Not long back after a very long but very satisfying day. I thought they had too much of the ball first half and we didn’t create anything. In hindsight, we pretty much negated anything they had to offer, apart from the Kane header, Young cleared off the line. Second half we upped the tempo and they couldn’t cope. This is obviously a very one dimensional analysis and Emery is very much not a one dimensional manager. Superb and Dougies goal was a thing of beauty!

Watched the game on telly, whilst flipping between this site and the Beeb's page. One thing I noticed was how slow the Beeb's site was to update with any information.

I was offered a ticket in the home end and very nearly passed on it. I'm so tired seeing us lose there.  But bloody hell, Spurs were going through the motions, whereas we wanted it more.

Just that bit of snap in the tackle, chasing and harrying.  It's sounds so simple, but it's been missing for so long.

Great to watch a team playing for the manager and supporters for a change.  Having a plan and executing it as well as they can.  I hope we're at the start of something special.

Yet you were the first person after PWS (who sees goals before they happen) to mark our second goal on the match-thread...

Emiliano Buendia (Aston Villa)
When are Spurs going to get a top-class goalkeeper? One who can save the team points and not cost them matches? People keep telling me he's won a World Cup so he must be good. France won the World Cup in spite of Hugo Lloris not because of him.

On Sunday, the shot by Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz was a routine save for a decent goalkeeper but such is Lloris' lack of concentration the ball rebounds of his chest and allowed the excellent Buendia a bite at the cherry.

Make no mistake, this Tottenham defeat by Villa is even more excruciating as their North London rivals sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table at the start of the New Year.

Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa)
The pass by John McGinn for Villa's second against Spurs was only equalled by the finishing touch provided by Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian midfielder was extremely impressive throughout this encounter.

There can be no doubt that the arrival of Unai Emery has served to galvanise the Villa but Spurs are starting games desperately slowly these days and are suffering as a consequence.

Something is not quite right at Tottenham at the moment and I'm beginning to wonder whether Antonio Conte is the right man to fix it.

There was a distinct lack of urgency, passion and defensive nous among the Tottenham Hotspur rank and file. I've already aired my thoughts about Hugo Lloris but Spurs also need two centre-halves in order to give themselves a real chance of securing a top-four place.
