Didn't they give away macs like grannies wear on their heads at that game? Might just have been for the home fans. I remember having to leave, on police advice, via the pitch/home end as it was kicking off at the away exit.

Wasn't the trouble at Maine Rd usually less about their fans and more the locals turning up? Seem to vaguely remember something about that. Our kid had the quarter-bumpers knicked off his Capri Laser up there in '89.

Huddersfield away soaked to the skin, also Athletico Bilbao at home in 1977, cloud burst

Got fully drenched coming out of Wigan just after Christmas when Gabby scored the winner, a few mates that went on the train bought a load of cheap clobber from the JJB down the road to change into

I don't think it was on this occasion. I only ever went to Maine Road, once. The surrounding area made Aston seem like Beverly Hills, as I recall.

Was that the game we came back to draw after being two down?

I was ‘detained’ at that one for running on the pitch when we equalised.

Nah, I was there when we got knocked out of the cup to a suspiciously offside looking Paul Walsh goal.

Mine was 95, one of Sir Brian’s first few games.

The wettest game for me was Pompey away in 1998. No roof on the away end and a constant downpour.

Strange tie. We somehow got a draw despite being absolute toilet, then got booed off at Villa Park after winning the replay.

Was at that Wimbledon replay. Wore jeans; at the end could hardly walk with all the rain they soaked up .Felt like a Hell's Angel initiation ceremony.(if you know, you know)

Ah the Wimbledon FA Cup 3rd round replay at Plough Lane in Jan 1991, infamous for its utter and complete misery.

It was wet, the kind of wet where your underpants down to your socks were completely soaked and freezing cold.  For those of you that weren't there, to top this all off, we lost to a late ET Alan Cork dribbler that seemed to bobble through almost our entire team in the 6 yard box.

We were shit, they were shit, the ground was a shithole of unspeakable proportions and the weather was so bad I ended up watching from a portacabin loo that was literally steaming up with piss... as that was still better than being outside, those were the days......

I hope so, thank you.

And I too have never been wetter than that open away end at pompey.
