If we could just play Brighton and Everton we would win the league.

I thought Digne was very fortunate. He just kind of hesitated on the ball and allowed Marsh to come in on his blind side. Would have been a farcical penalty to concede. I wasn't impressed in the slightest by our McLeish esque tactics in last 30 mins or whenever Young came on. They missed a sitter of a chance late on too, free header six yards out.

I thought early in the second half Kamara and Luiz really were dominating midfield. Ramsey wasn't involved much but thought Sanson would have been a better option to come in then to try and keep the ball. Young did ok but there was no need to switch to a back 5/6/7 that early. Brighton were very average but that tactical change helped them get back into the game.

Wasn't able to see the game. Was our shithousery really that bad?  Comments on the Guardian match report has plenty of wailing from Brighton fans.

It wasn’t as if Brighton were peppering our goal. They had few chances to equalise the free header apart. Yes, we got lucky for the Var decision that went in our favour. We of all teams are due a bit with the amount that have gone against us. I’ve read the arguments as to why it wasn’t given but still see a penalty. Emery is a good manager, if he’s a lucky one too who lnows where it will take us.

It wasn’t pretty and we gave the ball away too much in the last part of the game, but ultimately it was effective and we managed the game out well, the lapse for the free header aside. Ultimately the subs were all effective.
Brighton have only lost to Spurs at home this season by one goal, beating Chelsea and drawing with Newcastle on the way, they also play expansive football if allowed. In that context, Emery deciding to see the game out as he did, seems ok to me.  I really think this was an excellent result. We won with style last week and won rough and dirty this week, the important factor is we won.

With our atrocious away record and recent habit of conceding 4 goals, Emery used all the tools currently at his disposal to turn the tide.

For now, if it takes a bit of shithousery, so be it.

Imagine what it will be like when he has his own tool kit!! Happy days.
