The right offer gives him all the things he needs in his life and career. He wants to be wanted. He wants to be the primary architect of the club he manages. Overseer of all things from players to infrastructure. You can seen how much he speaks about the ground improvements. He’s clearly had a hand in those decisions. I’m sure we pay him very well. I’m sure there are potential employers who can pay him more. But thats obviously not all that matters to him. How many clubs could make him that offer?

I'm not saying someone will make him that offer. But if someone offered him say 25m a year he'd go. His price may be higher or lower than that but everything and everyone has a price especially in football.

He is a complex person with an incredible drive to succeed. He seems to struggle to unwind, always focused on football. I can’t see that he is particularly motivated by money. Achieving successes in football that he hasn’t yet managed maybe, money no.

if it was just about money he wouldn’t be here now.
That’s the point currently we offer so much more.

Where would he be that was offering him more?

I'm sure that he's a big fan of "the sporting project" but having the fourth biggest salary in the league is the main reason he's our manager.

We all have a price, Unai is no different. If offered enough any of us would spend the next 3 years watching small heath at the sty and only posting on sha. Never mind changing job.

You’re assuming UE is motivated purely by how much he earns. I don’t think he is.

I do think he will go to Italy at some point. Reading the Guillam Balague book at the moment and Italy has seen offers but not quite happened but I think he wants a huge prize with Villa first.

I think Unai will take the money as he is totally motivated by building Real Union into a major force in Spanish football and developing his home town Hondarribia. That's his mission in life and he's guided by Lady of Guadalupe.

Any of the 5 clubs John e mentioned who have recently appointed can beat our budget.

I reckon if you earn so much money (is Unai on about £8m a year with us?) that if you then get an offer of, say, £12m a year it is almost inconsequential. What are you gonna do with that extra £4m minus applicable taxes that will improve your standard of live so much that it'll be worth it?

You're already easily able to eat in the best/most expensive restaurants, have the most expensive accessories, the nicest cars, fly business class to anywhere on the planet on your time off. You've probably already got a pile of stocks and shares and cash, probably a load set aside for the kids as well.

Throw in that if to get that extra £4m you have to relinquish certain controls at your new destination, trade decision making and influence, as well as uprooting your nearest and dearest and you know you're already on to a good thing, then is it worth it?

I don't think anyone believes that he is "motivated purely" by money.

But like anyone earning a living in football, it is probably that more than any of the other (also important) factors.

We've gone from Rogers leaving to Emery leaving. Blimey, cheer up people.

Don't think anyone's suggested he's leaving.

If ManU offered him 20m a year there wouldn't be anything other than an Unai shaped dust cloud at Bodymoor. Money isn't his driving factor but it's a factor for everyone.

They won't offer that but it's naive to think Unai only has eyes for us and that will always be the case regardless. Same for every employee of the club.
