Welcome here for as long as he likes. John e is bang on too, he’s here not because there’s nowhere else for him to go.  He’s here because he wants to be here, and that’s part of the reason we all love him.

He has said before Villa fans are very grateful. It’s obviously something that’s important to him. Possibly because of the Arsenal experience!

I tried to do my bit by shouting thank you to him on the Parade by the Shakespeare Inn.

I was blowing him kisses.

No matter how happy he is he'll be off like a shot if the right offer comes in. Same as every other manager and player in the world.

Define that offer.

I can see him going to somewhere like Real Madrid for a couple of years (and lets face it, in common with most who go to manage there he'll get two to three years tops), but he won't have the level of control there that he has here so I suspect if that did happen then it would be after a prolonged period at Villa. To define that I'm thinking in the range 6 - 10 more years.

Could he go to international management? Maybe when he wants less intensity in his day-to-day, he might, although as a proud Basque, I can't see him taking on the Spain job.

I can’t imagine that Unai Emery, a Basque, would consider managing Real Madrid.

It wasn't a problem for Xabi Alonso or Julen Lopetegui.

We've been through this before. I'd imagine "Galácticos" not wanting to sit through three or four-hour-long meetings would be more of an issue than his Basque background.

I think it’ll be a combination of things eventually. Like John e said, the idea he hasn’t been sounded out in the time he’s been with us given what he’s achieved, is nonsensical.
I think its time and place, once he believes he’s done what he can with us, or is really wanted anymore and there is an attractive on the table, then he’ll go. That could be a year or 5 years for all we know. One thing is for certain we havent got anything to worry about yet, so bring on next season.

The players were making exaggerated yawning sounds and pretending to fall asleep in Alonso's tactics meetings.  They basically ran him out of the club because they dont want to take tactical instructions.

Madrid arent going to employ someone whos entire MO is, as you said, making people sit through intense briefings all day.

Barca are the danger of the Spanish two I reckon, and Flick seems to be doing a tremendous job there so all good.

I think Atletico would suit him better than both, a big lad with the ability to swing and land punches on the bigger lads. Feck it all though, he’s ours for the forseeable, bring on challenging for the league abd champions league

And that’s why that job isn’t for Unai….
