Does anyone know the reason behind their financial dominance back then? I'm guessing it wasn't broadcast revenue like it is now for us.
I remember a documentary about Italian football at the peak of Maradona at Napoli craziness and being aghast to hear that the cost of a ticket was the equivalent of £30.  At the time, match day admission to the Holte was probably a fiver.

However, the main reason was clubs being bankrolled by the likes of the Agnelli family at Juve or Berlusconi at Milan.

Thanks for posting that. Not only a fascinating insight, but Spanish practice to boot.

Was it really only a fiver back in the 80's to get on the Holte? Damn. Is that the equivalent of around 15/20 quid, now?

£3.50, that was a week's wages in Thatcher's Britain.

According to the Bank of England that's the equivalent of £9.93 in today's money. Fuck.

But a mobile phone cost £2000 back then, so swings and roundabouts.

That was their expensive tickets. The ordinary ones were the same price as ours.

Yeah but they doubled as a weapon, and a chair.
