I rate Watkins - albeit he’s obviously not performing, but that’s kind of the point - they don’t have to start.

You should've said!

Ha! In other news, Smirker says he doesn't particularly rate Watkins.

We were poor for the first six games. People wanted Rogers dropped. Emery trusted them and / or found a way to restore self-belief. If that's what he's doing now, it's not as though it hasn't worked before.

I have just noticed our ever supportive local newspaper have been reporting Unai is going Real Madrid in the summer without a any real story other than reading Football Insider who have probably just been reading sites like this.

Some people did, wrongly. But the difference here is those injuries, at the start of the season we had the right players to make the system work. I’m not sure we do at the moment.

We never had Tielemans at the start of the season

Did we not? I’m sure he played the first few games?

Yeah we did. We didn’t have Kamara.

That wasn’t for long was it? I’m sure he played a good few games at the start. In any case, I think the problem we have now is at the time being we don’t have the players to play the way we want.

Drop off yes - would they be putting in worse performances than Burnley and Leeds? Probably not.

They drew with Wolves at full strength.

A man from the Basque region joining Madrid?

Only if he's planning to retire before Christmas.

They had a Basque manager as recently as January.

And Unai managed PSG and Spartak Moscow (and nearly Newcastle). I don't think he'd be arsed about the politics.

Ornstein is reporting that he’s increasingly likely to leave in the summer.
