I have to say I don't fancy an Emery rebuild and I doubt he does either. This season to me has felt like trying hard to get over the disappointment of that Old Trafford match, including whatever the fuck that transfer business was - a half-hearted hail Mary designed to keep us near enough to have another crack at top 5, and if it failed (which it is doing), what's next? I don't know, but I suspect many of tonight's comments are spot on.

Just hope we can go all out and win the European competition and get us some silverware. Got to go for it.

Emery has been fantastic coaching the players he inherited, unfortunately our recruitment on the whole since he came in has been crap.

I know what is going to happen.

He's going to go in the summer, and as he does, we'll watch the entire management team - all recruited by or around him - go at the same time, the lot of them.

That's the downside of going all-in on a manager to the extent you're buying the family football club for him.

It's horrible to think, but it just all smells like end-game and not a blip.

He looks like he's lost interest.

This was said after the 1st 6 games of the season.
We have enough matches to turn it around but he needs to realise team selections and tactics need to change. Getting McGinn and Youri back is key.
All I know is if he left, we would be in the sh*t.

One thought keeps nagging at me: O'Neill had a whole bunch of money and talent and we nearly won things but didn't, and that crashed and burned in just a few years. There might be a huge gulf in expertise, but what's different, really?

I think its safe to say that is correct, short of us finishing top 4 and winning the Europa League he's off.

Indeed, we bet the farm on him. Entirely understandable, but in terms of continuity planning I suspect we’re in a spot of bother.

We really need him to re-engage and start doing his job right again.

When does his contract finish and does that make a difference? I hope he's here for many a year because he's the main reason we're going to be in Europe four seasons in a row.

I think like Doug, JJ, Diaby, Malen so became the financial sacrifice.

2029 I think? We need to keep him, not sure he’ll be here for the start of next season though. He doesn’t tend to hang around anywhere for too long, he hasn’t put down roots here, his stock is high in Spain.

I’m not so sure he’s off. I can’t see him wanting to walk away with unfinished business. The way he’s been celebrating this season with wins makes me think he cares passionately and he hates losing.

It’s not over yet.
