The injuries have shafted us but Onana and Luiz are what, something like 75 million between them? We should absolutely be playing better.
agreed - however, neither would be in the team if the injured players were fit - I wish Unai would up the tempo a litter earlier, the only criticism I have about the style of play is that it's walking football too often

It's not only that we have lost 100% of the effectiveness of our midfield trio. Without them we have also lost 30% of the effectiveness of players like Rogers, Buendia, Watkins, Torres and others who depend on that trio for breaking down the lines, patterns, creativity, drive, press and so much more.

Luiz, Onana and Bogarde are doing their best but our missing three are a hard act to follow.

With a full complement we are the best passing team in the league, a pleasure to watch.

We just have to scrap ugly until at least McGinn and Tielemans are back.

Isn't there a point to be considered that, why have 75m locked up in two players (yes, Luiz, I know, I know) who aren't going to be in the team if 3 others are fit when there are such gaps elsewhere?

Not to mention, why lock up a year's salary and a loan fee for another midfielder we are not allowing ourselves to play because of some crackpot contract clause?

Luiz is only here because of the injuries though and Onana often starts when everyone is fit.

Yeah, I think if everyone were fit and we were playing a cup final tomorrow Onana is probably in the starting XI.

Yes, he’s in our ‘Villa mean business’ midfield alongside Kamara with Tielemans at 10.

Have we been shit ever since Unai said we were basically shit? (Not a top 6-7 side)

Self fulfilling prophecy?

Yep. He needs to change things, be brave. Hopefully this will be the turning point.

Injuries do not excuse these displays, or team and in-game selections. In times of need like this, pick players in form and with experience, like Lindelof. It seems he's lost the plot.

As good as he’s been the last few weeks have been awful.
Tonight was unacceptable.
I’m afraid there will be no trophies.
No stands getting renamed.
No tears when Madrid prise him away.
I hope I’m wrong.

I love Unai but starting Watkins and subbing on Bailey is mind boggling. They look like pub players at the moment, absolutely miles off the pace.
