I'm not convinced he'd take it if offered. Purely because i'm not sure that being at a club like that gives him enjoyment. Choosing which shiny superstar plays where doesn't strike me as something that pumps his nads. Instead it strikes me that what drives him is turning players into superstars, giving a fuck you to clubs like Real with clubs like us or Sevilla.

I reckon it's 50/50 that he'd take it if offered, but I don't think they'd offer it to him.

They'd almost certainly be interested (why wouldn't they be?), he'd turn up and explain how he'd whip them all into shape with intricate tactical drills, video analysis and meetings and they'd decide that's not what they're looking for and get Mourinho back in.

Yep, he's obviously going to be on any shortlist but how he operates just isn't a good fit for them and they've just sacked someone who wants to do things in a similar way so I'd be surprised if he got the offer in the end.

He’s always going to be linked with the European big clubs because he’s the best

As much as I or anyone else might think he’d not be a fit or he would stay for all the freedoms and power we afford him, Real Madrid is arguably the top of the food chain when it comes to domestic football. To even be considered is quite the honour. He’s not just going to dismiss it if there is any official approach. He would know the immense rewards along with the risks. And his confidence and ego might tell him he can do it. But I think as highly regarded as he is he doesn’t fit their profile. So this for me unless proven otherwise is more talk and rumour than anything of substance. I feel post WC they will just go back to Ancelotti.

I suspect Unai will decline any offer made by Real this summer, telling them that he has an empire to build first.

Maybe when he's a year or two from retiring he'd accept an offer from them because, let's face it, there are many managers who don't make it past two years there.

I do wonder if he might fancy becoming coach at Valencia (again), once they have completed the construction of their new stadium, and assuming they manage to maintain their La Liga place in the meantime.

If we're doing fantasy careers for Emery, I'd like to think he does five or six more years with us, leaving after our second Champions League trophy in two seasons.

In the meantime, enough money and infrastructure has been put into Real Union for him to take over now they're mid-table in La Liga, and he can have a decade with them turning them into the new Spanish football behemoth.

Then he retires and watches Lander take over from him.

My thoughts exactly.

Do we even go down the ‘who we’d like to replace him road?’

Iraola for me.

Iraola seems to have done well when they have spent loads of money, less so this season when they have had to sell players.

I think he probably takes it if offered, but I don’t think they would go for him. It seems such a poor fit.

No point worrying about it. It’s a whole lot better than when Gerrard was stinking the place out and no other club in the universe would want to take him off our hands.

This might seem crazy
But if we offered enough money and a long contract and gave him total control and backed him to the hilt in the transfer market I wonder if we could temp Rob Edwards away from Wolverhampton
Or am I just being delusional

Fuck sake John. Rob Edwards? We’d never be able to get the likes of him!

I think he’d take it.

I think his reasoning would partly be they’re the biggest club in the world, and partly frustration here due to our financial shackles. Plus he’s been here a while now.
