He is a brilliant manager, but it’s the antithesis of the right club for him.

If he did go to Madrid the first change would be top replace Jude with Morgan  ;)

That's my view too, but I'd be more comfortable if he wasn't the 2/1 favourite to be their manager next season.

I still think it’ll be Klopp. But yes I don’t like any reference to it.

Probably be Zidane or Ancelotti back, because it's always one of those.

I don’t think Unai is anything like the profile of what they want or need. Ancelotti has been fired there and brought back. I can see post WC he will be rehired yet again. Him or Zidane. That’s just what they do. Nothing is long term. Its success now and the minute Barcelona are a step ahead the current bloke sticks his head in a noose. That’s not what Emery will want.

Go one further and just do a straight swap, sure he will be most welcome 🤬

Madrid have had the best part of twenty years to approach Unai Emery...only now do they realise he's a great manager? ...and (according to the Sky news report) he's their "Plan B", at that?   He must be flattered by such news.   Ideally, the fallout from this is that we offer the Boss a big new contract and we get on with our plan of conquering the world.

Alonso was paid 5m euro whereas Emery is paid £8m.  There’s obviously more to life than money but they’d have to shift their position considerably and, with it, adjust the players’ power that also exists.  He’s just not a good fit.

Spanish press write about fifty pages of "news" about Real Madrid basically every day. Pretty much every manager from Unai Emery to Malcolm McLaren will get a mention. I'd worry about if a more reputable source mentions the possibility.

Decent chance they win the European Cup and keep the current incumbent on for a bit, anyway. They usually win it every couple of years or so.

I also wonder if there is a heft release clause in Unai's contract

I just dont see people as smart as our owners agreeing to put all our eggs in the emery basket, and build a club in his vision, without some guarentees / protections.

There is a reason why these mega clubs give this much power to one person.

Think Ornstein suggested when he signed the extension a couple of years back that it was in the region of £10-15m.

Mad to think signing Emery will cost you less than Guesssand.

I read somewhere vaguely reputable that Emery was paid £14.7m last season. Obviously a big chunk will have been CL related.
