It's nice to feel this sort of uncomplicated adoration of our manager. It's been 30 years since I felt even slightly like it.

Has anyone got a list of all the records he's set for us, and the shitness records he's broken like winning at Newcastle, winning at home vs Man Utd etc? Would be quite incredible really.

I asked the same a month or so back. It's probably too late to compile them now, far too many.

He can’t look a player in the eye though. That’s the true test. 😂

Anyone who can get even half a tune out of Jadon Sancho, and make him look like he's enjoying his football is an absolute genius.  Improved Buendia, Konsa, Digne, McGinn immesurably.

Unai Emery: “Emiliano Buendia’s commitment is massive. He is playing angry to get his best, to compete with the wish of me being proud of him. And I am.”

Unai Emery: "Emi Martinez fantastic, centre-backs fantastic, full-backs fantastic. Amadou fantastic in how he fought today. Ollie Watkins, how he fought against the centre-backs... wow... fantastic. Sancho, Bailey, fantastic."

Unai Emery: "In August, when we didn't win the first five matches, Were you asking me if we are contenders? No!

"We are in a fantastic position, really fantastic. But I prefer to wait until day 35 (to give an answer)."

The last line there is what I've been saying for a while. Until the last few games all anyone can do is stay in the race. This is why I think the 'will we win the league' thread should be 'Can we still win the league'.

Unai got it absolutely spot on with his team selections and tactics for Fenerbahce and Newcastle. You could hardly imagine a tougher challenge after the Everton game, not sure any other manager could have got these two wins.

I think we should keep him till the end of the season now.

And he never tells them to roll their sleeves up like proper managers do.

He channeled his ager after the Everton loss into positive energy for the Fenerbahçe game and then today at Newcastle. This is what makes him a manager way above his peers. He’s the best we’ve ever had.

I think the biggest compliment that can be paid is to acknowledge how clearly all of the players understand “our structure” and “our way”, to which he frequently refers, to the extent that even with a few key players being forced out of contention, we still pitch up in Istanbul and play like liquid gold. And then, in the space of one training session, pitch up at the Jaudis and do the same.

It’s one of the reasons he was keen to get Bailey back rather than make a new signing because he didn’t need to slowly integrate in the way he makes new signings.
