Yep. One of the 'crown jewels' had to go. We expected it to be Emi but when that didn't happen JJ was the obvious choice given his injury problems. I'd have loved him to stay but if hte alternative was selling on of Watkins, Rogers, Tielemans or Kamara then I think the vast majority of people would make the same call.

let's break the poor start down - 3 draws (one with 10 men), a coin toss defeat at Brentford. So the only really poor performance was Palace who scored their final 2 goals when we were going for it.

I can't believe there are calls for his sacking. 5 games. Three years ago we had two league wins going into mid November and we finished 7th. I'm sure he'll turn it round.

I feel like we started at the bottom of a well. We are slowly crawling up, inch by inch. It's cold wet and horrible, more rain and filth pour down on us but we cling on manfully knowing one slip could see us at the bottom again where things may have to change before we start the ascent again.

The Percy article in general is a good summary, and ends on a positive note which I am desperate for at the moment. But one thing keeps puzzling me (and please forgive my ignorance if there is an obvious answer) - this notion that we have 'spent big' since Emery came in. Is it true? I was under the assumption we had a negative net spend since he arrived. Presumably this is much less than most other teams?

I know that the wages to revenue ratio is a big worry, but does that translate to us being big spenders? In the context of the Premier League, aren't we the complete opposite? Is this perception purely to do with our wages, or is it based on something else that I'm missing?
