We have tried to have the same football model as Citeh, multi club model (although very quiet on that front…) and the manager running the football side of the main club….sadly we don’t have the state sponsorship and massive external sponsorship that they do.

I really hope Emery can turn things around very soon but I have my doubts. He is clearly a very passionate and work obsessed bloke who for whatever reason can’t get a result at the moment.

At what point is his job in doubt?

Who would we look to as a replacement, mid-season… Nuno?

Worrying thing is we may have poured nearly £50M down the drain for Malen and Guessand.

I'm very pro-Emery, but he's no Guardiola.

Bit early for that at least regarding Guessand, he's played about 120minutes of football for us. Malen I agree is looking a bit of a problem, mostly because of his attitude.

He's got an immense amount of credit in the bank and has earned the right to have a bad season. Nonetheless, it's an interesting (if depressing) thought experiment to wonder just how bad it would have to get for him to be in trouble. Bottom three at Christmas? Out of Europa League at league stage? I'm not saying I think either of these things will happen by the way, just musing where the owners' red lines are.

Personally I'd prefer not to find out, and I don't think we will.

5 games, 3 draws, 2 defeats, is all it took.

Too early to discuss this but if it did come to it then the Bournemouth manager (not gonna try and spell his name) or Galssner at Palace for me.

My theory on what Emery is facing:
Right or wrong, the headline from UEFA was that we must operate with a transfer profit for the next three years, meaning that growth will be severely restricted. If you’re a player with a 10-15 year career are you going to commit about a fifth of that career to a club that’s got its hands tied?
I know this is an over simplification but probably true enough to worry a significant number of the squad and impact their commitment.
I also wonder whether this was why the club looked to solve the sanction in one season, so this perceived burden can be shifted asap.
You may be right - you make a very good point - although I'd say the main focus for Emery is to prepare the players, mentally as well as physically, for each game: for 4 5 games we've looked utterly unprepared. I'm hoping that Elliott, Sancho and Linderlof bring some whoomph to the squad, in a good way.
Just correcting an earlier post ...

5 games, 3 draws, 2 defeats, is all it took.

It’s not just the results, it’s the performances, plus what looks like, from the outside, a lack of harmony. And that three of those games were against Keith Andrews’ Brentford and Everton.

I’m nowhere near thinking Unai going is the answer, in fact I think it’ll ruin us, but it doesn’t look as simple as just a bad start.

There's a lot to contend with. It's been a tumultuous summer, and we had to get rid of Ramsey when he didn't want to go, and keep Martinez who did. The players will feel that too.

We've got plenty to look forward to, this is just a bump on the road. We've been on an upward trajectory since Emery arrived, and we will be back on it soon enough.

I feel really guilty because I'm starting to doubt Emery.

I'm sorry, Unai. Please make us better. Quickly. Thanks.

there just seems to be something wrong at a deeper level - I know nothing - but performances look lost. Hopefully I'm over thinking it and it's just a poor run of form - but the basics seem gone, the players don't even look fit enough.
