I’d be super wary about being happy to see Unai go. He has raised us way above anything we’ve been for a long time - he’s going through a rough patch, but there’s every chance that if he leaves we’ll regress.

Nobody would be happy about seeing him go. But you said he needs to turn it round quickly. How quickly exactly? One, three, seven games? How many? And what if he doesn't?

I don’t know a number, but I’ve seen enough in his time at the club to say he deserves plenty of latitude to work it out.

The Emery Out thread is edging closer. I can feel it.

He has hit a wall with team selections and tactics.  But he has had to contend with a pretty unsettled squad through injuries, leavers and bedding in new players.
This tends to push managers to keep playing players out of form to try and build consistency and so far it hasn’t worked.
He really does need to work on getting a defensive unit together because you can not concede 2 goals a game and achieve anything.
I still think he is our best bet to get us into a top club but we are miles off it right now.

Can we have a bomb squad thread too whilst we're at it

Plenty of latitude and needing to sort it quickly are obviously very different though, both can’t be true.

Of course they can - he needs to improve performances quickly, but doesn’t mean we should be on the verge of firing him if it drags a bit.

No way do i want unai out.

Happy for a host of players to go instead. But unai really needs a plan B. These tactics are not working  and he needs to find another way. Other managers even openly admitted they know how we play so are prepared.

Last year he was finding alm kinds of ways to win games but this year that is not happening its a real enigma

Fuck me - obviously no one is beyond question - but the man is literally one of the best in the world.  Easily one of the top 10 managers in the world.   He is also perfectly suited to a club like ours.

If we do actually end up finishing 14th at the end of the season - then maybe consider it.  But he's still relying on the same players the Gerrard and Smith did - and hes got a fuck load more out of them then they did.

Chelsea literally have 40 players.  We nowhere near that level of riches.  Do you really think anyone at the club is happy about the fact we have to start out of form players in half the positions.

Yeah, but we haven’t won in 8 games…

If we finish 14th, then he clearly won't have got a load more out of them, will he? Not to mention the small matter of the £200m he's had to spend.

If he's still relying on Smith and Gerrard players, then maybe do a lot better in the transfer market. Moreno and Diaby were bought and sold again within a season, Maatsen was a hugely expensive luxury when we had far more pressing areas to fill, we overspent on Onana and the least said about the decision to bring Philogene back, the better.

Irrespective of what happens this season you can’t take away what he has achieved in the previous seasons with players who weren’t deemed good enough by plenty of fans.
