He really didn't do too badly when you consider the other jokers we've had. And he did sign McGinn, which it's fair to say worked out.Just a completely different world from where we are now though, and not a better one either. And he very seriously failed to help himself with some of the stuff he said, nor being incredibly tactically backward.
Someone in the non-Villa media praised the great man for not making excuses about injuries (unlike the chap at Man Utd). I thought it was only noticed by us. (Barry Glendenning on the Guardian podcast)
There will always be injuries , but to lose your best CB, your best DM and best Nr 10 and still get 4th is remarkable.
