All this glowing coverage is leaving me even more nervous about tonight.

Nah. The next article will just say reference us “Premier League leaders Aston Villa”. Drink it in. We will come out on fire tonight and win the game. The atmosphere will be just magic.

I hate being right. :(

Bit late catching up with the post match reactions and again I have to say I really admire Emery's attitude. Maybe it's just he doesn't have the right English to rant coherently about the disallowed goal, but he seems more concerned about the way the players were thrown by it rather than blaming the decision itself. Just like after the kerfuffle at Brentford he seems to be looking at how we stop it happening again, react differently, and keep getting better. I'm sure behind the scenes he was dropping the Spanish equivalent of F bombs but the public face is always calm and thinking about what comes next, not dwelling on what's been and gone.

On a similar note I liked Zaniolo's comments after the game about how scoring was great but he'd have preferred the 3 points. Watkins said something similar a few weeks ago, can't remember if it was the draw with Bournemouth, or the late winner at Brentford, but they all seem to be singing off the same hymn sheet, which is great.

I wonder if there was any significance to Emery doing the post-match interview from the media room? (Wilder came onto the pitch to speak with the pundits/host). He may have wanted to speak to the players and just did the minimum media engagements.

He seems very much focused on what can be controlled and what cannot. No point focusing on referring decisions, better to focus on the response to adversity. It's so refreshing and really highlights his focus driven mentatility.

I think he was well pissed off in his post match interview.
He controlled it well, but he most definitely wasn’t himself.

I had several conversations at work on Friday about wanting to get home in time to watch the game and people saying to me, yes mate, that's three points, easy.  I was never convinced and I hoped that Unai would have the players closing their ears to all the plaudits and over-hype about being brilliant and winning the league.  I hope we have learnt a valuable lesson from Friday night about ignoring the noise and getting on with the job.  Have to say, I'm really disappointed about not being top after the Liverpool/Arsenal game.

I'm sure he was annoyed but the fact he can control himself and not make a show of us all by throwing a strop is very refreshing.

I suppose he can't lecture the players about staying composed if he doesn't practice it himself.

Yes, it would have been nice to be top of the tree at this time of the year but as we all well know the title isn’t awarded in December.  I much prefer to be written off by the likes of Neville and Carragher only to come back stronger on Boxing Day.

Nice, yes, but I'd rather be hitting the top around March/April.

Wouldn't surprise me if Unai is working on team formations with his sprouts during dinner tomorrow.

Never stops. Practices what he preaches and a brilliant example to everyone at the club.

We are blessed.

This. Being top at Xmas just brings unnecessary pressure where every result is minutely  analysed and slipping a couple of positions drives a negative narrative. Just hang in there I say.

Amazing to think that after 18 games last season we were 11th on 22 points and Arsenal were on 40 way ahead of the rest.
Thank you boss for what you've achieved in such a short amount of time.

It’s not nice to gloat but…

“Under pressure Al-Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard has called on the club's board to make "significant changes" in the January transfer window following a winless run of eight matches. (Mail)”
