If 5th got champions league, I'd take that now.

Same
I thought 4/5 place was a dream at the beginning of the season but now it’s a reality
As for actually winning the league that would be a miracle

I wouldn’t take it now, because we’re in the position we’re in. We need to be ambitious.

I wouldn't take it either because I'll be disappointed if we don't finish at least 5th.

On his podcast with Julien Laurens, Gab Marcotti was asked if we could win the title and he said he thought we were two January signings away. Not no, not don't be ridiculous, not laughing it out of town, a genuine thought about what would help make that final step.

What the fuck timeline is this, I don't even know.

Did he suggest who the two players should be?

Yeah, that reeks of laziness. The fabled "two signings away". Its hardly pinning colours to the mast. Gregory and Izzet/Juninho. Jude Bellingham or Todd Cantwell? The difference would probably land Newcastle the title.

He said he thought we hadn't replaced Mings and Buendia. Most of us I'd say would disagree, would say backup rightback and striker more important.

I believe physicists refer to it as the 'Smirker universe'.

On the other hand, what a lift it would be if those 2 became available for selection again for the run-in.

I know it’s all hypothetical, but taking a guaranteed Champions League place is being ambitious

No, but think we'll get both this season.

Both cups and Champions League, then that and the title next season.

As I said, let's not be greedy.

And to add, I looked at the fixtures last night and if we carry on through Christmas, there's not much to worry about until April, by which point we could have a serious lead over other top 4/5 competitors.
