John Townley on Twitter (B'ham mail - but one of the better ones)

V Sports are reportedly set to finalise a partnership between #AVFC and Spanish club Real Unión, which Unai Emery has a majority stake in.

Emery's father and grandfather both played for the team based in Irundarra, just three miles from where the Villa boss grew up
.

Will this tie Emery even closer to us?

I like this. And hopefully, yes.

The worry will be if we ever play them I guess.

Unlikely I think, they seem to be a 3rd/4th tier team most of the time.

Oh I know, but in a decade's time, when we're on our 5th Champions League defence, and V-Sports is taking over the world, Real Union will be Spanish Champions too......  ;D

Stranger things have happened. Girona (Man City's Spanish feeder team) are two points clear at the top of La Liga at the moment.

Girona are my local top-tier team, just 52 miles away.

I thought we just bought clubs that had a V in their name. Zed FC aside.

Because a piece of shit like girl gobbing Carragher said UE would be running up the M^ if the redfilth clicked their fingers we have had pages of debate.

The only people that think they have any relevance is the sycophantic media and their wanky customers. We need to stop giving this any oxygen.

We are a match made in heaven and this is why it is going so well. Maybe if ever Barcelona came calling his Basque heritage may bring us a problem but if they do come calling it will be on the strength of what he has achieved (and won more importantly) with us.

We're onto something really good Hookey, and for many of us that's not our experience with Villa. It's natural that many of us are going to be waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hopefully we learn a new way and gain more confidence over time.

One impressive thing, besides all the obvious, is that we bounce back well from defeats. Only twice under Emery have we gone 2 or more league games without a win. That 3 game run that included the somewhat bizarre Leicester and Arsenal games, and then Wolves and Man Utd away.

He's a regular but I can't remember his name, he doesn't normally present match days.

Answer is yes.  The commentator in the game earlier (at 87mins) was wondering if we’d be able to ‘hang on’ to a 3-1 win against Fulham.  The narrative is that it’s ‘only’ Villa and if a ‘big’ club comes along we will bend over. It has to change and will.

Yep the commentator made similar comments earlier in the game as well.
